As the Official Superyacht Program Partner for Sydney SailGP, Ocean Media and guests were in prime viewing position on board M/Y Fat Fish, joined by expert commentators Mark Beretta, Blue Robinson and Rob Mundle.
We present the highlights of what was the party of the 2019 Sydney International Boat Show – the fabulous Ocean Club Soirée.
It was fantastic to see many owners, captains, VIPs, international and industry guests enjoying the live music, entertainment and free-flowing G.H. Mumm champagne, accompanied by Chivas Regal and Beefeater 24 cocktails, canapés and local beer and cider from the Sydney Brewery Company.
The event was sponsored by Pilatus, Oyster Yachts and Majesty Yachts by Gulf Craft and Australian Superyachts.

VIP guests of Ocean Media’s Ocean Club were treated to front row seats onboard charter motor yacht A.Q.A. and witnessed a new era in SailGP, as Season 2 returned to Sydney Harbour.
The atmosphere on the sidelines was electric as the opening act of Sydney SailGP saw two new teams and old foes clashing on the water for the first event in 2020, in front of a bumper crowd on the shore and on water.
Ocean Media for the second year running, was appointed as the Official Sydney SailGP Adrenaline Program Partner, and lead with the prime position for a fantastic day trackside, nestled in the Exclusion Zone. Throughout the day, drinks flowed and delicious food was served as guests enjoyed not only the racing but also the onboard networking.
Ocean Club guests on board the superyacht A.Q.A. were treated to the showdown that all sailing fans wanted to see in the final of the SailGP season 2 opener.
Situated inside the Exclusion Zone, guests on board A.Q.A. were in prime position to witness rivals Tom Slingsby and Ben Ainslie go head-to-head, as their teams Australia and Great Britain battled it out in the Match Race Final of Sydney SailGP.
Ben Ainslie and the British team wasted no time establishing themselves as the ones to beat this season as they put on impressive performances throughout Sydney SailGP to claim their first event title.
During breaks in the fleet races, Ocean Club guests discussed battle tactics while enjoying hors d’oeuvre and drinks on the flybridge of A.Q.A., drinking in the sunshine and the race atmosphere on the harbour.
On the 20 May, set in the backdrop of a sun setting into the waters of Sanctuary Cove, the Ocean Club held an intermit gathering of owners, VIP’s and industry guests.
Named the Owners Coterie, this celebration was sponsored by Pilatus, Burgess, Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard, Rolls-Royce, Hayman Estates and Bvlgari, and partnered, which comprised of Penski Australia, Analu Interiors, Cotswold Furniture, Dockmate, Inner Circle Rum and Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef.
The theme of the French Riviera, invitees stepped on board M/Y Patriot and M/Y Corrobboree and into a setting that echoed the grace and sophistication of Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre during The Golden Age.
“[It was] a fun, relaxed evening with a great setting,” affirmed Warren Yon of Pilatus of the event.
