Windy Boats will soon be available in Australia through official dealer, Haines Yacht Sales, headed up by industry stalwart, Greg Haines, Managing Director at Princess Yachts Australia.

Established in 1966 and based in Västervik on Sweden’s west coast, Windy is known for its range of yacht tenders and chase boats, sports boats and classic cruisers which demonstrate superior seakeeping, clever features and high performance.

The announcement coincides with the official launch of Haines Yacht Sales during the 2026 WPGA Championship and Festival of Golf at Sanctuary Cove, where the new venture was unveiled to an audience of high-net-worth clientele, industry leaders and invited guests. Haines Yacht Sales has been established as a dedicated platform for premium brokerage beyond the Princess Yachts portfolio, while also introducing complementary world-class brands to the Australian market.

Operating from Sanctuary Cove Marina on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Haines Yacht Sales is ideally positioned within one of Australia’s most prestigious marine precincts. The business is led by respected luxury marine specialist Greg Haines, supported by an experienced team including Scott Davis, Tony Jones, Justin Thorpe and Matthew Johnson.

“This represents an exciting evolution of our business,” said Haines.

Haines Yacht Sales allows us to expand into the broader premium segment while maintaining our commitment to Princess Yachts. The addition of Windy, a globally respected brand synonymous with performance, craftsmanship and Scandinavian design, is a natural fit and perfectly complements our existing portfolio.”

Windy Scandinavia has identified Australia as a key strategic market, driven by increasing demand for high-performance luxury dayboats and sports cruisers suited to the Australian lifestyle.

Bruce Todd, sales manager at Windy Scandinavia commented, “I had the pleasure of meeting Greg last summer during a sea trial of our SR40, now proudly awarded Powerboat of the Year 2026 at boot Düsseldorf.

“When we met again at boot, we further developed the idea to work together, starting with the SR40. With its outstanding performance and design, we see it as a perfect boat for Australia. Combined with Greg’s expertise in the premium market and stunning location in Sanctuary Cove, this presents an exciting opportunity for both Windy and Haines Yacht Sales.”

The exterior was designed by renowned superyacht designer Espen Øino.

When Haines travelled to Windy’s headquarters in Sweden, he met with the Windy team and experienced first-hand the craftsmanship, engineering precision and performance that define the brand. The visit reinforced a strong alignment between Windy’s Scandinavian heritage and Haines Yacht Sales’ commitment to representing world-class yachts with credibility and depth of knowledge.

Windy Boats are built to Bentley and Princess Yachts’ quality, delivering a blend of performance, usability and refined design,” he explained.

“The SR40 drives like a centre console with excellent handling, accommodation on board, ensuite and large deck spaces. If the weather turns, you can close the doors to the saloon lounge to create a completely enclosed space. Best of all, it’s a 52-knot boat. We have already had interest from people looking for a 40-footer offering versatility, superb styling and remarkable features.”

The Windy SR40 is part of the brand’s Sports Line and combines performance, usability and refined design in a “go anywhere fast and safe multipurpose family sports boat”.

Launched in 2025 and designed by renowned superyacht designer Espen Øino, the SR40 positioned as a versatile “marine SUV”, designed to bridge the gap between open sports boats and larger superyacht tenders. The hardtop can be fitted with roof racks for carrying watertoys and other gear.

For a “beach club” feature, the boat’s fold-down bulwarks on both sides of the aft cockpit expand lounging space at anchor. Powered by twin Mercury V12 600hp outboards, it can achieve a top speed of 52 knots, while retaining the comfortable, soft-riding qualities of a classic Windy hull.

The first Windy SR40 is scheduled to arrive in Australia post-Cannes Yachting Festival which will be held in September 2026.
