There are charter yachts that promise privacy, scale and theatre, and then there is Breakthrough. The 118.8-metre Feadship is entering the charter market as one of the most significant yachts of her generation, not only for her size, but for what she represents: a new chapter in ultra-luxury cruising, where engineering ambition and resort-level living meet on a genuinely extraordinary platform.
Built by Feadship with exterior and interior design by RWD, Breakthrough is widely recognised as the world’s first hydrogen fuel-cell superyacht. That achievement gives her immediate historical weight, but for charter guests, the appeal is also deeply experiential.
Across five decks above the waterline and two below, she offers the scale of a private floating estate, with a multi-level owner’s apartment, 15 cabins for up to 12 guests, and a crew of 46 delivering a level of service closer to a palace hotel than a conventional superyacht.

Her most talked-about feature may well be the submerged Nemo lounge, a glass-walled observation room beneath the waterline that allows guests to watch the ocean from inside the yacht. Above, an 8.2-metre infinity pool with a moveable glass floor filters light down into the beach club, while 14 balconies and seven opening platforms bring the sea astonishingly close for a yacht of this size.
Wellness is equally central to the experience, with a hammam, sauna, cold plunge, caldarium, massage room, beauty salon, two gyms and even a hospital room supporting long-range private cruising. Add a serious water-toy inventory, generous Mediterranean and Caribbean cruising potential, and a charter rate from €3.5 million per week, and Breakthrough becomes more than a yacht to book. She is a yacht to talk about, a rare opportunity to step aboard the future of charter before the rest of the world catches up.
The yacht was originally commissioned by Bill Gates, but he sold it before ever taking delivery. The owner is Canadian waste management billionaire Patrick Dovigi who purchased the vessel in late 2025.
Edmiston represented both buyer and seller in the sale and has been appointed exclusive central agent for charter. Breakthrough is available in French waters under the YET scheme and then available for charter in the Caribbean from 12 January onwards.
The showstopper. Guests can sit below the waterline in a glass-walled observation lounge and watch the ocean from inside the yacht, a rare feature that gives the charter a genuine “you have to see this” moment.
The pool is not just for swimming. Its moveable glass floor creates a dramatic connection with the beach club below, making it one of the yacht’s most cinematic guest features.
Breakthrough is not only vast and luxurious, she is technically significant. Feadship’s hydrogen fuel-cell system makes her one of the most talked-about yachts of her generation, giving charter guests a front-row seat to next-generation superyachting.
At 118.8 metres and 7,247 GT, she is less like a yacht and more like a private resort at sea. Guests have the space to spread out, entertain, retreat, work, train, dine and relax without ever feeling crowded.
The principal guest accommodation is extraordinary, with two bedrooms, twin bathrooms and dressing rooms, an office, meeting room, gym, living spaces and a forward jacuzzi terrace. It gives the charter principal true private-residence scale.
With a sauna, hammam, cold plunge pool, caldarium, massage room, beauty salon, two gyms and a hospital room, Breakthrough is designed for long, restorative charters where health, privacy and comfort are central to the experience.
Fourteen balconies and seven large opening platforms transform the yacht at anchor. The sense of connection to the sea is unusually strong for a yacht of this size, especially through the beach club and fold-down terraces.
She is an approved RYA water sports centre and carries the kind of toy list that can fill every day differently, from Jet-Skis, Seabobs and e-foils to diving gear, paddleboards, waterskis, wakeboards and kite-surfing equipment.
A crew of 46 for up to 12 guests creates an exceptional service ratio. That means the experience can be highly personalised, from wellness routines and formal dining to family activities, watersports and complex itineraries.
Many yachts are luxurious, but Breakthrough has a story. Between the hydrogen technology, Nemo lounge, glass-floored pool, Feadship pedigree and sheer scale, chartering this one-of-a-kind vessel gives guests more than a holiday, it gives them a place inside yachting history.
