McConaghy has reached an agreement to acquire the brand and intellectual property of Cure Marine, the Sunshine Coast-based builder of high-performance sailing catamarans.
The acquisition signals a new chapter for the Cure Marine series. What began as a potential production partnership has evolved into a full integration of the brand into the McConaghy portfolio.
Under this new structure, McConaghy will take over the manufacturing of the Cure range, transitioning production to McConaghy’s world-class facilities to leverage their industry-leading composite engineering and autoclave technologies.

Cure Marine has now ceased operations, with production of the Cure range transitioning to McConaghy. To ensure continuity and maintain the brand’s high standards of client service, McConaghy has appointed Ed Penn as Sales Manager for the Cure series.
Penn, a pivotal figure in Cure’s initial success, joins the McConaghy team to lead the brand’s global commercial efforts.
“We saw a unique opportunity to bring a successful Australian design into the McConaghy fold,” says Mark Evans, Group Managing Director of McConaghy.
By combining Cure’s performance-driven IP with McConaghy’s global production scale and technical expertise, we are ensuring a bright and sustainable future for these exceptional catamarans.
“We are also delighted to welcome Ed Penn to the McConaghy team as Sales Manager for the Cure series, bringing over 30 years of industry experience and ensuring continuity and expertise for our clients.”
While production moves to McConaghy’s international facilities, the brand maintains its strong Australian heritage through its ongoing connection to McConaghy’s Sydney headquarters and the continued collaboration with the original design team.
McConaghy is already undertaking a design evolution of the Cure 55GT and Cure 48GT models, with further details on these refined iterations expected to be unveiled later this month.
Interested parties and media are invited to meet with Ed and the McConaghy team at the upcoming International Multihull Show, 22 to 26 April in La Grande Motte, France to discuss the future of the series and secure production slots.
