The Sovereign Collection is the first and only apartment project on the private archipelago of the Sovereign Islands and will be developed alongside the existing marina on The Sovereign Mile.
Andy Taylor from AMT Marine Luxury Boat Brokerage, and CEO of Sovereign Islands Marina, who has leased the marina for the past four years, is handling the marina redevelopment.
There are currently 30 berths including seven superyacht berths for vessels up to 30-metres. According to Taylor, the redevelopment will involve reconstruction of at least three-quarters of the marina, and the addition of an on-site trade services specialist and shipwright, attending to all aspects of vessel maintenance.
Core Property Partners Managing Director Nathan Andersen said for owners, the ability to step out of their home and onto their vessel was a distinct advantage.
“There are few places in Australia that afford the same opportunity to develop a secure, deepwater marina adjoining luxury residences,” he commented.
“At The Sovereign Collection you can step out your door and be on your boat within moments, with immediate access to the Gold Coast Broadwater and Pacific Ocean.”
Superyacht Australia data shows that the superyacht industry is forecast to increase in value by 70 percent between 2021 and 2025 to $4.3 billion.
Added to that, there is a rising number of local owners and visiting international vessels, which will continue to increase in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
The refurbished marina will provide long and short-term berth leases for residents of the islands and visiting yachts.
“The marina will operate as a leasehold facility and guest vessels will have the ability to reserve a mooring when visiting the islands,” explained Andersen.
“A Marina Manager will run the day-to-day operations, and for residents of The Sovereign Collection there will also be a dedicated Marina Concierge service to facilitate a range of operational aspects, such as catering, fuel service, set down and cleaning, and managing maintenance/service requirements.”
The on-site restaurant, patisserie and wine bar will be open to the public, with the yacht-inspired architecture of the project and its proximity to yachts likely to be a strong drawcard.
“Residents of The Sovereign Collection will also have the unique benefit of being able to order food and beverages from these operators and have it delivered to their front door, akin to a private room service.”
The Sovereign Collection is the vision of Singaporean developer Ching Chiat Kwong, who purchased the site more than a decade ago. Captivated by this location for many years, Kwong has acquired one of the four Royal Pavilions residences, which span over 1,200-square-metres and are priced from $25 million, for his personal use.
Each Royal Pavilion features three residential levels with four bedrooms, multiple living spaces, a private rooftop with pool and entertaining areas, and a six-car basement garage. Every level of living, from the basement to the rooftop, is connected by a private lift and a grand spiral staircase.
The six opulent 550-square-metre Penthouse Residences feature huge entertaining spaces, a theatre, private rooftop pool, and secure three-car basement garage, with prices starting from $9 million.
“The level of craftmanship and quality of material will be unmatched on the Gold Coast,” stated Anderson.
“The three-bedroom Penthouse Residences are unlike any other offering on the Gold Coast. They embody the grandeur and exclusivity that define the Sovereign Islands, with extravagant proportions creating mansion-style residences with the perks of apartment living.
“The presidential suite, kitchen and butler’s pantry, billiards room and cocktail lounge are truly magnificent. It’s an extraordinary offering in a private, secure and tranquil setting.”
MAS Architecture is behind the superyacht-inspired architecture of The Sovereign Collection, and Koichi Takada has designed the opulent interiors.
Amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness centre, on-site security, marina and residence concierge, six-star restaurant, wine bar and patisserie.
Construction is expected to commence mid-2025.
The Sovereign Islands archipelago is a prestige property paradise conceived by the visionary developer, Brian Lewis of the Lewis Land Group. Established in 1988, it was the first waterfront housing development in Australia to offer deep water access for luxury boats and yachts at all tides. Accesses by a road bridge from Paradise Point, the six islands are protected from the Pacific Ocean by South Stradbroke Island.
