The brand was born in Noosa in 2004, a tribute to Kovac’s mum, Emma Raso who she describes as the original muse, and her parents’ love story, inextricably tied to coastal Queensland and many happy years of beach holidays.

Kovac explains, “I have always been interested in skin health and anti-aging. After owning clinics and working alongside doctors and plastic surgeons, I wanted to create a skincare line that addressed the unique challenges of our climate with its extreme UV, heat and humidity.

I had seen how European creams formulated for cool, dry climates using lanolin, emollients and active ingredients like Retinol were not the solution. I listened to my clients, who are also the muses in my journey, and I partnered with a chemist to develop Ocean Muse.”

Ingredients such as aloe vera, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide work to deeply hydrate, calm inflammation and strengthen the skin barrier, while antioxidants and plant extracts such as Bakuchiol, known as nature’s Retinol, help defend against environmental stressors and reduce pigmentation.

Another key ingredient is Red Velvet Oil™, an antioxidant-rich oil derived from upcycled tomato seeds. High in polyphenols and lycopene, a potent carotenoid, this unique oil provides deep nourishment while offering exceptional protection against oxidative stress.

The first product in the Ocean Muse range was the Hydrating face oil designed to target sun damage and provide lightweight, easily absorbed hydration.

There are two serums: Radiance Serum and Youth Serum; a 3-in-1 Exfoliating Masque that works as a cleanser, exfoliant, and masque powered by active ingredients such as Salicylic Acid and Lactic Acid; a Hydrating Mist designed to hydrate, soothe, and balance the skin; and the Enriching Moisturiser which is an ultra-light cream designed to hydrate, tighten, and brighten the skin while enhancing its natural resilience.

Then there’s the Ocean Muse Golden Body Butter. Shimmering with real 24k gold flakes, this decadent body butter deeply hydrates while enhancing the skin with a radiant glow. Infused with Hyaluronic Acid, Champagne Seed Extract, sun-fortifying Sun-Alg and tapioca root to counter excess sebum, it’s a summer skin essential.

Just as important to the brand as its effectiveness, sustainability is integral to its identity and ethos.
