NZ Marine has confirmed that the NZ Millennium Cup, scheduled for 15 to 18 February 2021, will go ahead as planned.

Organisers reported 14 entries have signed up so far, along with several other registrations of interest. The biggest challenge for competitors will be navigating border restrictions in New Zealand in order to make the journey to the Bay of Islands for the regatta.

“We are mindful of the current COVID restrictions and we are happy to confirm that five of the entries and their owners have the vessel/are in New Zealand (or have approval to enter NZ),” said a statement from NZ Marine.

Principal Race Officer Harold Bennett returns to lead the Race Management team, along with the ORCsy handicapping system working with race officials remotely.

“Orams Marine and Royal Huisman return as Platinum Sponsors and we are delighted to have their continued support,” said the NZ Marine statement.

More details of the regatta will be confirmed soon.
