Damen Yachting has launched the first Xplorer 60, designated as SX6001. The Dutch boatbuilder says the new 60-metre yacht is designed to support long-range exploration while maintaining high standards of comfort and autonomy.

The vessel, which was was previously known as the SeaXplorer 60, has been constructed at Damen Yachting’s shipyard in Antalya, Turkey and is currently undergoing final outfitting, which includes commissioning and sea trials. Damen says the model is designed for owners seeking capabilities beyond those of conventional superyachts.

Features of the Xplorer 60 include the crow’s nest and observation lounge, providing direct access to the exterior fore deck and offering panoramic views of remote landscapes. The yacht also features a spa area on the bridge deck aft, which includes a full-size whirlpool.

The yacht’s interior, developed with H2 Yacht Design, offers six suites for up to 12 guests.

The main deck aft area accommodates a limo tender, a crew tender and jetskis, with storage, launching and lifting capabilities.

Salih Saim Kaya, Damen Yachting project manager for Xplorer 6001, states: “Being involved in the creation of this new series of Xplorer yachts has been a delight.

“The possibility of new owners having access to an Xplorer yacht of this calibre and luxury will be industry changing.”

The exterior of the Xplorer 60 was developed in collaboration with Azure Yacht Design, and inherits an award-winning design heritage that includes the Xplorer 58 Pink Shadow and the Xplorer 77 La Datcha.

The yacht features hybrid power and propulsion with battery banks, a fully certified helideck, Ice Class capabilities and IMO Polar Code compliance, making it suitable for operations in a range of environments, including polar regions.

Rose Damen, managing director of Damen Yachting, says: “Since introducing our SeaXplorer concept in 2015, Damen Yachting has become well-established as the luxury explorer yacht leader. We expect the future will see more owners demanding the autonomy, safety, flexibility and luxury that the Xplorer series offers.

“That is why we decided to build the Xplorer 60 on spec for fast delivery. Xplorer 6001 is the only luxury explorer yacht available in her class and an amazing opportunity.”

The yacht’s interior was developed in collaboration with London-based studio H2 Yacht Design and includes three guest decks with six suites accommodating up to 12 guests. This project marks the first collaboration between Damen Yachting and H2 Yacht Design on an Xplorer yacht, following previous work on Amels projects. Damen Yachting was responsible for the naval architecture.

The Xplorer 60 measures 60 metres in length and has a gross tonnage of 1160 GT. It can accommodate 12 guests, along with 16 crew members and a captain. The yacht is scheduled for delivery in mid-2025.

Damen Yachting is part of the Damen Shipyards Group and specialises in building and refitting Amels superyachts, Xplorer expedition yachts, and Yacht Support vessels. The company employs approximately 500 yacht-building professionals, supported by a network of specialist co-makers.
