Amels has announced the contract signing for its largest yacht to date, which took place during the Monaco Yacht Show at the end of September.

The 78-metre, fully custom superyacht will be the largest vessel by volume to be built by the Vlissingen-based shipyard, measuring approximately 2,850 gross tonnes (the largest Amels in length remains 83-metre M/Y Here Comes The Sun, delivered earlier this year).

The yacht also marks the first project that Amels will work on with award-winning designer Espen Øino, who is known for his striking custom superyacht work. Øino’s Monaco-based team have developed the exterior design and general arrangement alongside the owner.

While Amels has made a name for itself for its Limited Editions range of semi-custom superyachts, which have highly efficient build processes and therefore short delivery times, the company is now devoting considerable attention to developing its Full Custom team and promoting its custom capabilities.

We are very impressed by the know-how and professionalism that the Amels custom yachts team has displayed during the design development and negotiations and look forward to working together towards making this vessel a unique custom yacht we all can be proud of,” commented Øino of the project’s progress so far.

Few design details have yet to be revealed, although the initial exterior rendering shows a handsome, well-proportioned motor yacht with ample deck space for guests including a large sundeck, an extended aft deck relaxation area above the main deck and a fully exploited foredeck for guest use, including a large sun pad and Jacuzzi. The side deck’s bulwarks have cut-away sections with protective railings on the main deck to maximise views and light to the interior.

Amels’ Full Custom in-house team will be developing the naval architecture and engineering for the project, while the owner chose Zuretti Interior Designers to take care of the yacht’s interior. Founder François Zuretti commented that he and his team would be creating an interior that was contemporary, comfortable and functional, with distinct “ethnic notes”.

This is a particularly significant contract for Amels and a great compliment for our Full Custom team,” commented Rose Damen, Amels Commercial Director. “All of us at Amels are looking forward to working with the owner’s team and the yacht’s designers to create this beautiful new custom yacht with the absolute highest quality for which Amels is renowned.”

Delivery of the 78-meter superyacht is expected in 2021.
