WiLder, the new brand developed by Wider in Italy that represents the wilder side in all of us, is about to take a step closer with the launch of the first WiLder 60 at the builder’s shipyard in Italy. The brand’s aim is to deliver an exceptional, high-octane boating experience with an exquisite yacht package aimed at dynamic owners.
There’s no question that the WiLder 60 will be one of this season’s ‘it girls’: wired, as Wider says, for fun; inspired by superyachts, and destined to be desired by all who see her. The all-aluminium performance cruiser comes in at 18.9 metres, and features lithe good looks matched to a superyacht soul and exceptional levels of finish.
“During her development, the design team at Centro Stile Wider concentrated on the idea of creating a dynamic, captivating and easy-to-handle 60-footer, but with a precise focus toward onboard comfort and refinement of details typical of superyachts,” enthuses Marcello Maggi, at the helm of W Fin Sarl, the holding company that owns 100 percent of Wider equity.
“That attention to detail is true both for the exterior and interior, with the Centro Stile Wider team studying every facet of the aesthetic and functional aspects, which has created several unique features.”
With each WiLder 60 being completely customised to her owner, the first to launch serves as a demonstration of how the newcomer combines living large with a love of the sea. Her exterior layout includes a forward party deck, central helm and aft social deck with sunbeds, seating and alfresco dining, while for her interior the owner has opted for two guest cabins amidships, with the owner’s suite enjoying the privacy of the bow area.
There’s also a saloon below, complete with designer galley cabinet and a relaxation area with outboard lounge and a television on the fore-aft bulkhead. A dayhead to starboard serves as the head and shower room for the two aft cabins.
The owner’s suite boasts skilful lighting engineering that emphasises the enveloping design of the bedhead and lounge, which form a singular component that both mirrors the exterior lines and hints at automotive styling. Alternating leathers in various shades of beige feature hand-stitched seam, while the forward bulkhead bears and embellished, handmade glossy lacquer that recalls the texture of oak selected for the furnishings.
The focus on superyacht levels of fit and finish are evident in other materials used throughout the interior too – from leathers to marble to fine gloss finishes. “We wanted to challenge the idea that a yacht with a sporty character should have modest interiors,” says Maggi.
“The result is a yacht that is as exquisite on the inside as she is sensational on the outside – proof that at Wider we really believe beauty is more than skin deep.”
“The styling and the finishes draw on legendary Italian design flair and superyacht levels of craftsmanship at every level of detail, from the luxurious lacquers to the exquisite stitching. WiLder 60 is truly the supermodel of the seas.”
Those supermodel looks are not the only things that will turn heads – the WiLder 60 will be propelled by twin MAN V8 1300 engines linked to surface drives which will deliver cruising speeds of 35 knots and a top speed over 40 knots. Range is expected to be 325 miles – more than enough to take the party anywhere her owner desires.
She should be comfortable, too – the performance hull was developed by the naval architecture brains at Wider Engineering – and bow and stern thrusters should make her a breeze to park in a blow.
The first WiLder 60 will be launching soon, and is due for completion in August 2023.
