On 19 October 2023, the Superyacht Alliance for Professional Standards was established in Malta by the founding members MYBA, SYBAss and IAMI, in the presence of Hon. Minister Dr Aaron Farrugia, Malta’s minister for transport.

This new organisation will initiate new qualification programs for professionals in the superyacht industry, such as the Yacht Owner’s Representative Program.

It will also promote existing ones like the Guest hospitality programs.

The self-stated aim and objective of the new alliance is to align associations throughout the superyacht industry to raise the bar for professionalism.

The alliance also aims to ensure more visibility and awareness is created about existing job opportunities in the sector.

During the gathering, Farrugia congratulated the founding associations for their commitment towards a more environmentally sound and sustainable industry.

Farrugia reiterated Malta’s commitment to the success of the alliance. He reassured the alliance that Malta will remain steadfast in its policy to further consolidate the quality mark in the industry worldwide.

Malta remains one of the main jurisdictions in the superyacht industry, and this will be further reinforced with the imminent publication of the country’s first national policy for the superyacht industry.
