Unreal. There’s no better way to describe Mammoth Lakes, a place so majestic, where otherworldly landscapes of craters and hot springs and alpine lakes and tufa towers exist side by side.
It’s where adventure never takes a season off, whether hiking rugged mountain terrain or skiing mind-blowing amounts of powder at 11,053 feet.
A wonder of nature, it’s a wonder why you’d want to be anywhere else. It’s all so unreal, we’re just happy it’s also very real.
With 300 days of sunshine, endless lakes to explore, incredible ski and snow adventures and a gateway to the world-famous Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes is California like you’ve never seen it before …
Mammoth Mountain in California will remain open for winter (skiing and snowboarding operations through at least July, with no firm closing date being set yet.
The announcement comes with the resort’s record-breaking snowfall of 700 inches this season.
Well known for its extended spring seasons, Mammoth has a long tradition of operating well into the summer months but has never announced an extension of this length of time, this early in the season. In short, this is likely to be the best spring skiing and riding the eastern Sierra has ever seen!

More lanes mean fewer wait times, so you can squeeze in laps as fast as you dare. There’s fun for all ages with a viewing area, a large snow play area, and a snack bar offering hot cocoa and adult beverages.
Step off the mountain and into another world at Vulcania, the brand-new restaurant located in the Village at Mammoth. From Food Network stars Bryan Voltaggio and his Michelin-starred brother Michael Voltaggio, Vulcania offers a timeless and elevated dining experience.
The new restaurant marks the brothers’ first joint concept in California, serving up dishes that pay homage to their Italian roots. The menu is brimming with American-Italian staples, with a twist.
