This year marks the 32nd edition of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) and the vibrant return of the show circuit.

According to organisers, over the past 30 years, SCIBS has welcomed more than 1.4 million visitors and over 10,000 exhibitors, cementing its position as one of the world’s most popular and ever-evolving yacht shows.

A hallmark of SCIBS is its unique offering – a potent combination of everything that orbits boating lifestyle, catering businesses, consumers, boaties and the general public. A universality that makes it the ideal arena for launches and industry events; fostering camaraderie among colleagues and competitors.

“The whole boat show team is looking forward to SCIBS 2021,” said SCIBS General Manager Johan Hasser.

“Ticket sales are going well online and exhibitor numbers are up.

“This year, there are many new initiatives, especially in the luxury lifestyle offering, including the Captains’ Lounge, Ladies Day and a dedicated superyacht arm. We’re very proud to be showcasing the new marina.

“Mulpha Australia is committed to investing in the ongoing success of the marine industry, as seen with the $12 million expansion of the Sanctuary Cove Marina, which enables us to accommodate premium recreational vessels from 50 feet to superyachts up to 165 feet.

“More premium on-water displays, coupled with significant space for the growing trailer boat segment, means SCIBS 2021 will expand both ends of the market.

“We’re also further enhancing the visitor experience by expanding the show’s footprint to incorporate the luxurious InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, which recently underwent a $9-million upgrade and boasts covered berths – a first for the Australian market.”

Networking and socialising go hand in hand at SCIBS, with various opportunities for exhibitors to combine the two, such as the Australian Superyacht, Marine Export & Commercial Marine Industry (ASMEX) conference in the lead-up to SCIBS, the International Business Lounge supported by the Queensland Government, and the five-star VIP Lounge overlooking the new marina.

Rev your engines

Bentley Brisbane and Bentley Gold Coast are proud to be on board as the major sponsor of SCIBS for the ninth consecutive year.

For autophiles, the supercars on show will include the Bentley line-up, Lamborghini and Maserati, with several other marques poised to confirm their attendance.

There are several options for access to SCIBS, among them the free Park ‘n’ Ride service from Warner Bros. Movie World and Dreamworld, as well as an additional 350 on-site parking spaces, bringing the total number to 2,300 at the door.

Those keen to arrive by boat can moor in the Coomera River and arrange with the Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) to deliver you and your guests to the marina.

Arriving by helicopter is seriously stylish and timesaving, and choppers can be booked, departing from Marina Mirage for a scenic and queue-free route.

If your tastes run to the gourmet, SCIBS has introduced a beefed-up smorgasbord of VIP experiences this year. The $199 single day pass includes entry and access to some scintillating VIP experiences, including the Lagoon Lounge.

Overlooking the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s new Superyacht Marina arm is The Lagoon Lounge – a new luxury package. Here, guests will be offered an all-day range of delectable cuisine paired with premium beverages – all provided by the five-star InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.

For a complete indulgence, The Lagoon Lounge additionally offers accomodation with a limited number of private corporate cabanas for up to ten guests to indulge and soak it all in.

On Sunday 23 May, The Lagoon Lounge will host a Ladies Day at the Lagoon Lounge, presented by Hit 90.9. A celebration that inject a touch of pink with a fabulous array of fashion, prizes, live entertainment, fine food and free-flowing drinks.

Owners of vessels 28 metres and over can engage with other owners and industry representatives at the Captains’ Lounge.

For businesses and brands, the corporate cabanas are the ultimate upgraded VIP experience at SCIBS, allowing businesses to host clients and colleagues with first-class corporate entertainment. The cabanas include a tailored menu, premium beverages, personal waiter, corporate gifts and branding opportunities.

Take your marque

On the marina, Australian and imported vessels cover the gamut of brands, models and styles, with a significant number of local and global launches to be held over the four days.

Visitors will enjoy a diverse variety of sailing and power yachts, multi and monohull from Maritimo, Horizon Yacht, Palm Beach Motor Yachts, Grand Banks Yachts, Riviera, Sunseeker, Princess Yachts, Integrity Motor Yachts, Whitehaven Motor Yachts, Lagoon, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Leopard and Prestige Yachts plus many others.

Based at Sanctuary Cove, Princess Yachts Australia will present the Princess V40 Sports Yacht, the F50 Flybridge and two Southern Hemisphere premieres, the V55 Sports Yacht and the F55 Flybridge.

Dealer Principal Greg Haines promises a display and a boat show that will be enormous: “There haven’t been any international boat shows since 2019 – everyone is raring to go. The borders are open and the Kiwis are coming!” he states.

“With the opening of the new marina at Sanctuary Cove, we look forward to displaying our boats in the position that is now the home of Princess in Australia,” he adds.

Riviera will present their most comprehensive display this year, featuring several models across the brand’s range of SUVs, flybridge and sport yachts.

The show will also provide an opportunity for attendees to be among the first to step aboard the new Riviera flagship, the 645 SUV, a model thats combines longer-range offshore cruising with premium accommodation.

Featuring either three or four staterooms, three bathrooms and a utility, as well as an additional accommodation aft, the 645 SUV is resoundingly spacious. A point accentuated with the alfresco entertaining and dining deck, galley with island bench, side saloon door, large walkaround side decks and foredeck.

The 645 SUV will be accompanied by the 445, 505 and 575 SUVs as well as the luxurious and long-range 72, 64 and 50 Sports Motor Yachts.

Also set to be included are the 6000, 5400, and 4800 Sport Yacht Platinum Editions and the bluewater heritage 57 Enclosed Flybridge.

Riviera’s showcase will also include many social events, including the Riviera Owners’ Ladies Luncheon and the Riviera Owners Party aboard the YOT Club, a floating superyacht entertainment hub.

Luxury yacht builder Horizon is also planning an impressive showcase this year, officially unveiling the Horizon FD87 Skyline.

“The model, which is one of the most popular Horizon models to date, is a special edition Cor D Rover Design,” said Horizon Yacht Australia’s Director Mark Western.

“At an overall length of 90 feet and a 23-foot 3-inch beam, the enclosed skylounge features an on-deck master stateroom, high-performance piercing bow and hull design, tremendous interior volume, helipad on the roof and heated jacuzzi on the bow.

“The Horizon team is excited to catch up with our customers on a business and personal level, especially those from interstate.”

Maritimo will host worldwide launches of two spectacular new motor yachts – the M55 and the S55.

“We’re excited to be launching two groundbreaking new vessels, combined with our other M-Series and X-Series models,” said Maritimo’s Director of Design Tom Barry-Cotter.

“After a virtual launch in 2020, the new M55 Flybridge is set to be the most-anticipated so far. Also set for its global launch is the latest addition to the internationally acclaimed S-Series sedan motor yacht range, with the first international showcasing of the stunning new S55 Sedan Motor Yacht.”

Palm Beach Motor Yachts are confirmed to be exhibiting the iconic Palm Beach 50 and debuting the new flagship model of the brand’s modern sports line-up, the GT60.

“We will also be presenting the Grand Banks 60 long-distance cruiser at SCIBS,” added Joel Butler, Palm Beach Motor Yachts’ Creative Director, highlighting sister brand, Grand Banks Yachts, planned exhibition.

“It’s the most fuel-efficient model in its class, capable of speeds in the mid-30s and a cruising range of around 2,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.

“We love showing off our new designs and innovations, just as much as learning about what others in the industry are doing.”

Fleming Yachts are also set to display the new F65 – exactly one decade since the previous iteration was displayed at a SCIBS.

The first Fleming 65 was built in 2004 for company founder Tony Fleming to test the boat named Venture to its limits and report his real-world experience to the design and engineering team. Sixteen years on and over 66,000 nautical miles later, Tony is still cruising to extreme locations on 65 hull #1.

Boat show veterans Grant and Mitch Torrens will be at SCIBS “in a big way” with a multi-faceted display under the banner of Torrens Luxury Collection (TLC).

“We’re back and in full swing,” said Torrens. “Our display will embody everything about the luxury yachting lifestyle – yacht brokerage and charter concierge. We’re more than charter brokers; we’re curators of the whole charter experience down to the finest detail and can organise anything from crew recruitment to VIP berthing.”

“We’re promoting charter, specifically in Australia, Fiji and New Zealand at this time, and aviation, partnering with Dan Egan from ABC Helicopters.”

At the distinctive red and white-themed TLC stand there will be two superb superyachts for sale, an array of superyacht water toys and a floating Island Beach Club, complete with Moët bar, sunlounges and vintage cars.

Alexander Marine Australia is hosting the Australian debut of two new models, the Galeon 640 FLY and Ocean Alexander 26R, as well as the Galeon 510 Skydeck and Ocean Alexander 45 Divergence.

Since making its debut at SCIBS in 2019, Galeon has made inroads with the Australian boating public. Four units have been sold to boaties who recognise the innovation and value for money the highly awarded Polish-built brand offers.

Prestige Yachts, representing luxury boating brands such as Beneteau (yachts and powerboats) and the Prestige brand, will display the new, multi-award-winning 420 S-LINE.

From Windcraft Yachts, there will be a range of some of Europe’s most exclusive sailing and power yachts, including Hanse, Dehler, Germany’s Moody sailing yachts from Germany, Italy’s Solaris Yachts, as well as Fjord, Sealine motor yachts and Privilege Catamarans.

The Whitehaven Group, representing three of Australia’s most prestigious boating brands – Whitehaven Motor Yachts, Aquila Australia and Integrity Motor Yachts, will also be in attendance.

Recently appointed the distributor of Aquila Australia, the company will be promoting the largest power catamarans in the range alongside the latest models from Whitehaven and Integrity.

Flagstaff Marine, importers of Beneteau in-board powerboats and Beneteau sailboats and the new Groupe Beneteau Excess catamaran range, have confirmed the Excess 12 power catamaran will be on show alongside the Swiss Trawler 41, before becoming complemented by the Italian luxury rigid inflatable boat (RIB) brand Lomac Milan.

In the Lomac range, there will be three models to inspect: the Adrenalina 7-metre, the IN 540 Spearfishing model and a 3-metre tender.

Representing Jeanneau yachts, Mooloolaba Yacht Brokers will host the Jeanneau Sun Fast 3300 racing boat debut alongside the award-winning Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410 Performance version.

Multihull Solutions and The Yacht Sales Co have teamed up for SCIBS 2021, exhibiting some of the most popular sail and power models.

Multihull Solutions will exhibit the Fountaine Pajot Elba 45 sailing catamaran, the new MY5 power catamaran by Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts and the stunning ILIAD 50 by ILIAD Catamarans while sister company The Yacht Sales Co will host the Asia–Pacific premiere of the Dufour 470.

Gold Coast City Marina (GCCM) will be hosting a pre-boat show fiesta event to celebrate their 21st anniversary with visiting superyacht captains and crew, and will be a major sponsor of Ocean Club events scheduled throughout the show.

GCCM and on-site partners will be collaborating again to deliver the Official Boat Maintenance Enquiry Centre at SCIBS. Leading marine contractors will be available to provide complimentary maintenance, refit and repair advice for vessel owners from jetskis to superyachts, providing personalised recommendations and obligation-free quotes.

Accessing expert maintenance and refit advice from leading industry professionals on the ground at SCIBS in one convenient location is great for those contemplating purchasing, upgrading or updating their vessel.

GCCM will also be offering an introductory dry storage special for Sanctuary Cove visitors with plans to announce an imminent upgrade to their Coomera facilities alongside a new website launch.

SCIBS Sales and Partnership Manager Dominic O’Brien says: “At the upper echelon of the luxury lifestyle, SCIBS will showcase prestigious superyachts, powerboats, catamarans and sailing boats. There will also be RIBs, day boats, fishing boats, sport, ski and tow boats for recreational boaties.”

“We’re thrilled that the popular Sports, Leisure and Fishing precinct is back – a 20,000-square-metre space dedicated to trailerable boats – alongside the latest gear and gadgets on display in The Pavilions.”

Trailerable boats, water sports and inflatable craft will also have a strong presence throughout the Marine Village, with brands including Quintrex, Yamaha, Jeanneau, JSW Powersports, Sea-Doo, Stacer, AB, Northside Marine, Sailfish Catamarans, Voyager Catamarans, Aurora, Mercury, Zodiac, BRIG, Honda and Mastercraft presenting their latest models and products.

High-tech gear and gadgets will also be on display in the Pavilions, with notable brands such as Garmin, Fusion, Navionics, Raymarine, Seabreeze, Dometic, JL Audio, C-Map, Lowrance, Simrad, B&G, VETUS-Maxwell, International Paint, Awlgrip and HELLA on show.

Jet Aviation (formerly Hawker Pacific), one of the leading aircraft sales and product support companies in the Asia–Pacific and Middle East, will return this year, displaying the Bell 505 Jet Ranger X.

The four-day event is bursting at the seams with activities and attractions for everybody.

“By all indicators, it’s going to be a record-breaker. Boating is enjoying massive popularity as more people get into the on-water lifestyle than ever before,” says Johan Hasser.

“We can’t wait to celebrate again with visitors, exhibitors and industry!”

The 2021 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will run from 20–23 May on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
