Marala enjoyed a successful flood up in the 75-metre dry dock that has been her home for the past two years. The process concludes the completion of the yacht’s exterior structural and paint work programs.

The Captain of Marala explained what this milestone means to the owners: “The extensive structural and paint works undertaken has been a major part of the project for the owners,” he said.

“Their passion for the yacht and this restoration project has been driven by their desire to preserve and secure Marala’s pedigree for both themselves and future generations of classic yacht enthusiasts.”

The project has now entered its final phase and will move to Pendennis’ wet basin facility for completion. Her final trials and handover are scheduled for spring 2022.

Marala was built in the United Kingdom by Camper & Nicholsons and delivered in 1931. She was designed by Charles E Nicholson, who designed 25 yachts and created the naval architecture for 26 yachts.

Based in Falmouth in the UK, Pendennis is one of the world’s leading custom superyacht build and refit shipyards and one of Cornwall’s most important employers with over 450 highly skilled tradespeople on-site.

In 2018, Pendennis secured a majority share hold in Vilanova Grand Marina, Barcelona, a 48-berth facility with adjacent land available for further development.

The investment in Vilanova is yet another milestone in Pendennis’ international growth and offering to its global client base. The first phase of development work has recently been completed on the adjacent land turning it into a superyacht technical service centre that trades under the brand Pendennis Vilanova.
