LILI was handed over to her owner – on time and on budget, according to Amels – just over 12 months after the contract was signed on the project in May 2017, with Imperial acting as broker for the sale.

Christened on 23 June at the company’s yard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, LILI is a “highly customised” version of the 55-metre series platform designed by Tim Heywood for which Amels is well known.

She features an extended sun deck and expansive, four-metre custom-made pool with counter-current jets for swimming. The sun deck has been lengthened by Tim Heywood by three metres to a total of 28 metres (92 feet), taking its total area to an impressive 175 square metres (1,900 square feet).

On the bridge deck, there is an owner’s suite and an extended aft deck to maximise the private areas in which to relax. Her customisation includes three folding balconies to better enjoy the surroundings, including port and starboard folding bulwarks and sliding dining room doors to emphasise a connection to the surroundings, with the third folding balcony in the large VIP suite on the main deck.

Even though she shares the pedigree of the AMELS’ high value quality and finish, LILI is very different to any other AMELS 180 we have delivered to date. Offering our clients such a high level of customisation in such a short time scale is only possible working at the top of our game with complete mastery of the project management and production process. Of course, smooth communication with the owner’s team is critical and we have a long-standing, productive and close collaboration with Imperial,” said Rose Damen, Amels Commercial Director.

LILI’s striking golden hull colour has been chosen to complement the interior palette created by Laura Sessa. At 671 gross tonnes, she has six suites and has been designed to provide top-level service and a high degree of autonomy for her captain and 12 crew.

As well as acting as broker for the sale, Imperial worked as owner’s representative and construction supervisor for the project. After delivery, the company will continue working with LILI as charter central agent. Julia Stewart, Director of Imperial, commented on her completion:

“We are proud to see LILI delivered and once again this superyacht project is the perfect combination of Amels’ and Imperial’s fruitful collaboration. Just like her elder sister ASTRA, LILI is called to be the best charter yacht on the market, in her range, thanks to her new six-cabin arrangement and the incredible living spaces fitted onboard. The remarkable work accomplished on her sun deck and the extended living – and social – areas built together with Imperial will create the legacy of this customised charter yacht.”

After her christening in June, LILI started her summer cruising in the stunning Nordic waters of Norway in early July.
