Designed to offer contemporary on-water living with an apartment-like style, the MC82p – McConaghy’s first 82-foot power catamaran – is a long-range cruiser that triples as both a family yacht and a commercial charter boat.
The model is the second McConaghy Multihull to feature an interior design by the Italian studio m2atelier; the partnership beginning with the MC75 earlier this year, while Ker Design is behind the naval architecture.
The yacht’s internal volume has been maximised and every space configured with a distinct purpose in a layout that dispels all preconceptions of yacht interiors.
This first MC82p features a spacious saloon lounge, open-plan galley, a spacious aft deck and a cosy exterior lounge forward of the superstructure.
The accommodation arrangement aboard the first hull of the MC82p allows for four seaward-facing double cabins, three of which can convert to twin berths, with two additional cabins for crew.
“The general arrangement of any McConaghy multihull can be configured to specifically suit each client’s requirements,” said McConaghy CEO Mark Evans.
“Some clients like to have a master suite on the main deck, while others request fewer but larger guest suites and someplace greater emphasis on crew accommodation and layout versatility.
“We pride ourselves on being able to meet any client request. This is production boatbuilding with full-custom possibility.”
Equipped with twin 250 hp Yanmar engines, the yacht can reach a top speed of 17 knots and cruise at 10 knots. The efficient hull form and lightweight construction reduce fuel burn by 30 to 50 percent, compared to a motor yacht of the same length.
The MC82p also includes a 5.7-metre tender and a hydraulic aft platform, which with the tender deployed acts as a swim platform.
As with all McConaghy multihull models, the MC82p is fully customisable, echoing the brand’s focus on small production runs, quality control and the client experience.
MC82p hull #1 is due for delivery in March 2023, with orders now being taken for subsequent models
