Luxury charter operator Eyos Expeditions has added expedition superyacht Scintilla Maris to its fleet. The 46-metre yacht will be available for charters in Svalbard, Greenland and Coastal Norway starting in spring 2024.

Scintilla Maris (translating from Latin as the spark of the sea) is a brand-new vessel, built on the recycled hull of a classic Damen trawler design, incorporating various elements designed to mitigate the environmental impact of superyacht cruising.

Scintilla Maris is fuel-efficient and almost vibration-free with hybrid-electric propulsion and advanced navigation systems. The yacht accommodates up to 10 guests across four double cabins and one spacious owner’s suite.

The yacht’s interior by Dutch studio Vripack features boutique hotel-inspired interiors with a contemporary, loft-like feel, incorporating skylights, portholes, curved white feature walls and a contrasting bold colour scheme of reds, greens and yellows.

It offers multiple welcoming interior and exterior areas for socialising and relaxing, including a natural light-filled lounge, spacious dining room and open-air kitchen.

Scintilla Maris is more than a new expedition yacht; it represents a new approach to the market,” says Eyos’ CEO Ben Lyons. “From her hybrid propulsion with minimal carbon footprint to the heated outdoor seating that uses recycled cooling from the generators, she sets a new standard in eco-friendly design.

“Not overlooked, however, is the expedition spirit and the service level expected from the finest yacht – Scintilla Maris will be a boutique hotel in the world’s wildest regions.”

Scintilla Maris offers an intimate expedition experience, perfect for exploring dramatic landscapes and fascinating cultures, and getting up close to wildlife like polar bears, beluga whales and bearded seals in the Zodiac inflatable vessels.

“The owner has designed Scintilla Maris to be a first-class expedition yacht,” says Lyons. “She boasts spacious outdoor decks, a totally open bridge that flows into one of the lounges, and twin water-level boarding areas, one for each side of the vessel. There is even a dramatic observation area, perched 12 metres above the waterline.

“And at the heart of her expedition pedigree will be the support from the Eyos shoreside team and one of our expedition guides on board every charter to help bring the destination alive.”

Scintilla Maris is available for charter from US$160,000 (AUD$242,000) per week, plus APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance).
