Benetti, one of the world’s most proactive shipyards, recently announced its new commitment to Asia after returning from another Singapore Yacht Show. Vincenzo Poerio, Benetti’s global Chief Executive Officer, is accompanied by Chief Commercial Officer, Fabio Ermetto, in highlighting Benetti’s accelerated focus to a future in Asia.
With Asia now holding more UHNWI than anywhere in the world, Benetti aims to increase its business through keenly understanding, and meeting, the unique demands and tastes of a new type of yachting enthusiast.
“With the fast emergence of new wealth in Asia, luxury boating is starting to gain interest. I wanted to bring my senior team to this year’s [Singapore Yacht] Show to better anticipate the demands of Asian clients who want to become yacht owners. We take great pride in personal service and delivering exactly what a client envisions,” said Mr Poerio during the event.
To give a taste of the Benetti lifestyle, the five-deck 65-metre Ambrosia superyacht was on display at the show, complete with helipad, Jacuzzi, cinema, multiple fine dining areas, a spiral staircase, piano bar and six luxuriously fitted cabins with the finest Italian interiors with oriental influence. The owner, an enthusiastic technophile, worked closely with the Benetti design team to make it one of Benetti’s most technologically advanced mega yachts. Ambrosia was the world’s first superyacht installed with ABB’s Azipod, marking the technical breakthrough in the yachting sector.
Ambrosia’s diesel-electric propulsion technology (DEP) diminished the vibration sensation underfoot whilst sailing, giving her a sense of calm as she glides across waves.
The Singapore Yacht Show also debuted Benetti’s latest range of superyachts built to an increasing need for speed – Benetti Now and Benetti Now FAST. The Now models are the world’s first predesigned superyachts in lengths that are often custom built, slashing construction time by half without compromising on quality.
Built from custom steel and aluminum, the exteriors are customizable, with a choice between a closed sundeck and raised pilothouse with an optional helipad – recognizing the new tastes of Asian yacht owner.
The Benetti Now FAST range upped the Now project by creating the perfect storm of design and technological brilliance. Combining exterior design by Omega Architects, naval design by Mulder and interiors by Enrico Gobbi, the fast-displacement hulls make them 30 percent faster, while the design collaboration (between the two Dutch giants) pushes these superyachts to new heights.
Mr Poerio and his senior team were at SYS to demonstrate that Benetti is committed to servicing clients in the region. In addition to a fleet of 16 yachts in Asia, Benetti has just announced that it has been commissioned by the Tokyo metropolitan government to build a 35-metre custom-built motor yacht.
Benetti is also developing and cultivating its presence in Asia, including a strong sales and agent network and a local 24/7 after sales team for owners. Watch this space for further news concerning Benetti’s desire to grow their presence, brand and appeal in Asia.
