The New Zealand government has announced that recreational boating can now be enjoyed by Auckland boaties, although still needing to abide by Level 3 restrictions.
Auckland remains at Alert Level 3. Some restrictions eased from 11:59pm on 5 October 2021. You are encouraged to continue wearing a face covering when you leave your home and when physical distancing is not possible.
Outdoor gatherings – Outdoor gatherings between two households can go ahead, with a maximum of 10 people attending. The natural ventilation outside makes it harder for the virus to spread.
Sport and recreation – You can travel throughout the Auckland region to do an expanded range of outdoor recreation activities. A maximum of two households can gather, with a limit of 10 people gathering.
Sailing and boating are permitted under level 3 restrictions.
If a boat has an enclosed space, only one household or bubble can go boating. If a boat does not have an enclosed space, two households or a maximum of 10 people can participate.
Other activities now permitted include fishing from a motorised boat or vessel, scuba diving and jetskiing.
