With its iconic curved architecture, W Sydney has been five years in the making and will soon open its doors to guests looking to stay and play with superb views over Darling Harbour.

“From the undulating lines of its exterior, to striking interiors that challenge the status quo and pay homage to its Sydney and NSW locale, W Sydney is daring and original,” said the hotel in its announcement.

Part of the Marriott group, W Sydney will feature 585 luxury rooms and suites, a two-storey rooftop bar, heated infinity pool, restaurant, spa, gym and event spaces. One side of the building will look out over the water, and the other will peer over Chinatown and the southern end of the CBD.

Inspired by the marine environment, interiors were designed and installed by London-based interior specialists Bowler James Brindley.

Among its attractions is the hotel’s restaurant, BTWN, and remarkable double-level bar, 29/30, which looks out across a 30-metre mosaic-inlaid infinity pool.

The bar’s upper level boasts yacht-inspired interiors and a menu of expertly-crafted cocktails and vintage champagnes by the glass, from Dom Pérignon to Ruinart, and Krug to Armand de Brignac.

W Sydney has collaborated with local artists and designers on every aspect, from staff uniforms, curated in partnership with celebrity stylist Jess Pecoraro, to the artworks and etchings created by Australian-Ukrainian tattoo artist Stanislava Pinchuk, and muralist Sophi Odling who has imprinted her colourful art on the walls of BTWN.

Guest room bookings are now open for stays from 12 October.
