Princess Yachts has again joined forces with Oceanographic Magazine to support the 2021 Ocean Photography Awards, which opened to entries earlier this month.

The Awards present a unique opportunity for all ocean photographers – divers, surfers and sailors alike – to share their art with the world. In 2020, winning photographs were shared with more than 500 million people.

This year’s submissions will again be judged by a panel of some of the world’s leading ocean photographers, including International Photography Hall of Fame inductee Paul Nicklen, founder of the International League of Conservation Photographers Cristina Mittermeier, and Emmy Award-winning cinematographer Shawn Heinrichs.

Six categories will be judged, with the winner of each category awarded a selection of prizes. Several career-changing opportunities are also on offer, including a one-year residency of the SeaLegacy Collective. The prizes on offer are valued at more than £500,000. Additional prizes will be announced throughout the summer.

Princess Yachts’ Chief Marketing Officer Kiran Haslam explained, “This is no longer simply a passion, it is now our responsibility to engage fully to champion sustainability and act toward the conservation of our planet.”

“Princess Yachts is proud to support the Ocean Photography Awards 2021, continuing our incredible relationship with Oceanographic Magazine. The awards showcase standout imagery reflecting themes of exploration and adventure, and often capture the critical environmental position we find ourselves in, bringing into focus the many ways we can all engage to preserve the oceans for future generations.”

Entrants can submit their images from today until 31 July 2021. Winners, including the overall winner – the Ocean Photographer of the Year™ 2021 – will be announced in September. A stunning London exhibition will follow, where all winning images will be put on public display. The exhibition will be free to visit.

Will Harrison, editor of Oceanographic Magazine said, “The Ocean Photography Awards 2020 were a huge success. The quality of submissions received from photographers around the world was truly world-class – a powerful mix of mesmerising images of ocean beauty to impactful images of ocean destruction and devastation.”

Harrison continued, “This year’s objective is simple: to keep the ocean conversation going and to once again celebrate all those who shine a light.”

The Ocean Photography Awards is produced by Oceanographic Magazine, in partnership with Blancpain and Princess Yachts, and in support of SeaLegacy.

Cristina Mittermeier, Cofounder and President of SeaLegacy said, “The Ocean Photography Awards are a shining example of how art, collaborative efforts, technology and passion can align to bring the world’s attention to our ocean’s beauty and the challenges it faces.”

“SeaLegacy is honoured to be a part of the Ocean Photography Awards 2021, to once again align with the Oceanographic Magazine. I can’t wait to see the submissions!”

The winner of the Ocean Photography Awards is expected to be announced on 19 November.
