With power catamarans all the rage at the moment, it’s hardly surprising that more and more builders are getting in on the act. After all, who can argue with a more stable platform that offers increased fuel efficiency and enough room on board to swing a cat?
The latest to join the fray is renowned catamaran builder Catana Group, who have honed their cat prowess over four decades producing sailing cats in the form of the Catana and Bali brands. Now they are stepping into the powercat world, adding a new brand to their portfolio – YOT Power Catamarans.
The first model to hit the market will be the YOT 36, a 10.92-metre open-decked weekender with two ensuite cabins, powered by twin Mercury outboards in 225 hp or 300 hp forms. The deck area covers 38-square-metres, and the 3.99-metre beam can be further extended thanks to two opening side platforms.
The YOT 36’s cockpit design includes a central wet bar comprising two modules with a fridge, sink, storage and optional cooking facilities. The side platforms help create a generous social saloon en plein air under the protection of a hardtop, with areas for sunbathing and for dining for up to eight people.
