Demey Yachts has launched its first DEMEY 60, measuring 18 metres in length with a 6.9-metre beam constructed from epoxy-infused carbon fibre.
With naval architecture supplied by Roger Hill Yacht Design, this new model begins a custom-built production series, with the first vessel crafted for an experienced Sydney yachtsman who will use it to fill multiple roles: as a workspace during the week, a family cruiser on weekends, and a capable long-range passagemaker with planned voyages to the Great Barrier Reef, Pacific Islands and beyond.
The DEMEY 60 features a forward windscreen and extensive central deck glazing, which provide panoramic views and an open, airy feel. Designed for single-handed operation, it combines user-friendliness with versatility.
Inside, the yacht boasts modern finishes and high-quality surfaces. It includes four spacious cabins designed for comfort and practicality for families and guests.
The owner’s cabin, located forward, is light and spacious, featuring a well-appointed ensuite. The main deck includes a unique central helm station, three distinct living areas, a breakfast bar, and a full-sized galley with a standard-sized fridge, oven, and the usual amenities you would expect on a vessel of this calibre.
The flow from the main deck to the cockpit is exceptional, with the cockpit featuring a separate dayhead. The extended main cabin sides create a private dining area protected behind glass from the wind and rain, complete with a BBQ, fridge freezer, and ice chest.
The DEMEY 60 is ideal for long-distance cruising, powered by twin 550 hp Cummins engines. With a 10,000-litre fuel capacity and a 1,800-litre water tank, it is well-equipped for extended voyages at high speeds.
Its semi-displacement hull design mitigates the traditional planing “hump”, allowing for a consistent 1-degree trim throughout its speed range, enhancing stability and efficiency during long passages; passage-making at speed and comfort is this yacht’s key strength.
Additional features include ample boat deck storage for water toys such as jet skis, kayaks, or sailing dinghies, a forward boat deck entertainment area with a hardtop, and a custom-designed 4-metre carbon fibre catamaran tender housed in its dedicated garage.
The first DEMEY 60 is scheduled for delivery under its own power from Tauranga, NZ, to Sydney in mid-November.
