With performance and handling upgrades, interior improvements and exterior styling enhancements, German automotive engineering company and car manufacturer, BRABUS, is recognised as a world leader in luxury and performance car optimisation.

The launch of the exquisite BRABUS Shadow 800 by Axopar, therefore, is the result of an exclusive and exciting alliance between award-winning Finnish boat builder, Axopar Boats Oy and BRABUS GmbH, to design and manufacture an exciting new boat.

Now boating enthusiasts and individualists wishing to make their own personalised statement of style and power on the water can do so with the BRABUS Shadow 800 by Axopar.

Developed according to BRABUS’ engineering principle of using only the best production materials and component parts available, each boat is part of a special edition of twenty hand made examples, referred to as the ‘One of Twenty’, designed to celebrate the cooperation between the two companies, with future models and an expanded range to follow in 2019.

This new model is based on the same underwater lines and versatile deck layout as the offshore capable Axopar 37 Sun Top.

It is designed for a select group of boat owners – some of whom may have already had previous experience with the BRABUS automotive brand.

The name Shadow was chosen to reflect the fact that the Shadow 800 will often be the second boat to a much larger owned yacht.

A hyper-quick, hyper-exciting tender and a ‘go-anywhere’ support boat that owners of large yachts and superyachts will love to drive themselves, seeking out beautiful bays and remote islands and coastlines where the larger yacht may choose to follow.

The design fetures an Alexseal premium paint system. This sophisticated system and the way it uniformly covers all the different shapes and angles found on a boat, distinguishes and differentiates the BRABUS Shadow from other models. Stainless steel hand-rails and stanchions are painted Titanium black. Exterior cockpit seats are covered in Sunbrella Silvertex with the interior cabin seats in BRABUS Fine Leather, with use of Alcantara to cover mattresses and roof panels. Even small stainless-steel fittings, such as hinges, cleats and cup-holders will have a distinctive, real Titanium finish created by a heat process called ‘Physical Vapour Deposition’ (PVD).

Every square inch of surface area, including dashboard fascia, flooring covering, counter tops and such like, are upgraded. Despite an open, ‘wind-in-the-hair’ feeling, the versatility of the shaded Sun-Top version, with raised canopy weather protection means it can still be used in all kind of weather.  The cockpit has seven seats with a height adjustable central table perfect for al-fresco dining, although up to twelve people can be accommodated on deck in total.

The beating heart of the BRABUS Shadow 800 is powered by dual Mercury Verado® 400R supercharged racing engines, offering class-leading performance in every respect.

Supplied exclusively with Mercury’s 360° Joystick Piloting, anyone controlling the helm will have the ability to dock safely in all conditions, with fingertip control. For creating a clean, cool looking and aesthetically pleasing dashboard, the steering wheel has an Isotta Intelligent Steering module giving push-button control for machinery such as the bow-thruster and trim tabs.  Adding to the ergonomics, the display itself is based upon two standard 12 inch chart plotter screens positioned side by side, beneath the chart plotters, there’s Mercury’s latest VesselView 903 upgrade screen.

Standard on the BRABUS Shadow, VesselView 903 connectivity allows you to pair your mobile phone via Bluetooth to your engine, for accessing valuable data such as fuel burn, maintenance reminders, battery voltage, engine hours, mapping information, dealer locations, nearby fuel-fill stations, even the addresses of the best local restaurant. Fusion audio will also be integrated within this highly capable system.

Other standard features include Mercury Marine’s Active Trim, an integrated, GPS speed-based system enabling increased fuel economy through an automatic trim-in, trim-out facility based upon boat speed. Also fitted as standard is Mercury’s Theft Deterrent System (TDS) which improves boat and engine security allowing you to immobilize the engine, if someone tries to start the engine without inserting the fob.

The BRABUS Shadow 800 benefits from a comfortable, forward double-berth cabin that sleeps two people comfortably, as standard. The accommodation cabin has been completely revised for the BRABUS Shadow 800. Apart from the physical size and location of the beds, the front cabin has a more ‘open-plan’ look and feel. The cabin roof access hatch, useful for load-ing bags etc still remains, but mattresses now have pocket springs and there’s extensive use of BRABUS Fine Leather upholstery, with contrasting stitching detail.

Besides providing customers with comforts, such as an electric-flush toilet with 70L sceptic holding tank, black ceramic wash-hand basin, and interior seating that all Axopar 37’s enjoy. The Shadow 800 specification has gone further with an integrated infotainment unit, including a 42 inch LG flat screen TV with Apple TV connectivity and Fusion quality sound system.

It is expected the future range of bespoke BRABUS / Axopar luxury boats will expand, ranging up to 45 feet within the next few years, including a Sport version and an even more optimised bespoke version, known as the Exclusive. With production commencing April 2018 and deliveries taking place shortly after.
