For the third time, SailGP has lit up Sydney Harbour with some of the best sailing seen from the F50s, the high winds on the Saturday making for particularly exciting viewing. Tom Slingsby and the Australian team won the Sydney event and have now opened a two-point championship lead in front of their US rival.

With this much action on our doorstep, Ocean Media was again proud to be appointed an Official Supplier by SailGP. Organising the Adrenaline Yacht Program was another great opportunity to invite Ocean Club guests out on the water and experience this exhilarating sailing first-hand, in first-class seats.

Around the harbour across the two days, there were thousands of spectators taking in the incredible racing, and the Adrenaline Yachts Exclusion Zone was the place to be for all big boat owners keen to secure exceptional viewing positions.

Nearly thirty superyachts and big boat owners grabbed the limited SailGP Flags to entertain family and friends and share some corporate hospitality. Every charter yacht available was out on the harbour.

The Ocean Club hosted over fifty guests each day on board one of Sydney’s oldest but newest charter yachts, Caviar. Built in 1955, Caviar started life as an Australian minesweeper before being decommissioned.

Many years later, she has been brought back to life. With a new owner who is currently undergoing a massive refit, she will soon be back on the harbour chartering, offering incredible experiences for up to 60 guests daily and 18 overnight.

“Inviting our Ocean Club guests on board Caviar, one of Australia’s most unique luxury charter yachts, and being able to offer one of the best views of the F1 racing on the harbour, was such a pleasure,” said Hillary Buckman, Managing Director of Ocean Media.

Both afternoons, our guests had some of the most incredible experiences they have ever had out on the water, accompanied by exceptional Laurenti French champagne, wine, gin and vodka by Wine and Only, and local beer from White Bay Beer. Naturally, drinks were served with the finest black caviar from Simon Johnson and the freshest oysters and prawns from Musumeci Seafoods.

Feedback was exceptionally positive from everyone on board. “Fantastic day!” said Duncan Curnow, ACME, Quality Marine Clothing. “Our clients loved it; thanks for the hospitality, Ocean Media. You did an awesome job and we’ll do it again!”

The Ocean Club was hosted by Ocean Media and sponsored by Benetti Yachts, Pantaenius Insurance, Tourism Australia and ACME Quality Marine Clothing, together with suppliers Laurenti Champagne, local craft beer from White Bay Beer, all in luxurious comfort supplied by Cotswold InOut Furniture and Analu Luxury Italian Interiors.

The Ocean Club tender service was supplied by Windcraft’s new RYCK tender, and our stunning 1955 luxury charter motor yacht Caviar and her exceptional crew offered us the best platform to view the exciting two days on Sydney Harbour – you simply can’t get this close to the action any other way.
