SAILGP Season 2 facts and stats

The grand prix sailing event the whole world watches: SailGP attracted a global audience of 1.8 billion in Season 1.

SailGP Season 2 will take place in Sydney on 17 and 18 December 2021, with three races scheduled per day between 15:00 and 17:00.

Teams representing Australia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and the United States will go head-to-head over a series of short-format races.

The F50 is a one-design, cutting edge catamaran. Crowned World Sailing’s Boat of the Year, the F50 has a predicted speed of 96.6 km/h (52.2 knots/60 mph).

For SailGP Season 2, a number of exciting design and engineering updates have taken place to ensure the F50 stays at the forefront of the sport, including revolutionary new modular wingsails.

Winners of Season 1 – Tom Slingsby and the Australia SailGP Team – took home the unprecedented US$1 million prize, the largest monetary prize in the sport of sailing.

The SailGP Championship trophy is created by Thomas Lyte, the world’s leading trophy maker.
