New era

A year of major milestones and record sales, 2021 will go down as a truly momentous one for Maritimo.

09 December 2021

According to lead designer, Tom Barry-Cotter, 2021 is Maritimo’s most successful year in its nearly 20-year history.

At the beginning of the year, Maritimo announced bold plans to unveil eight new models in the calendar year.

Maritimo’s completely in-house, Australian based design and new product development team is set to deliver on those plans with the global reveal of the brand’s new flagship M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht today marking the seventh reveal, with one more exciting model announcement still to be teased before year’s end.

Maritimo’s, Tom Barry-Cotter said that the eight new model announcements were a significant milestone for the brand and that the level of new product development in 2021 had been unprecedented.

“This level of new product development would not be possible without the input and efforts from our highly experienced, Australian based new product development and design team,” he said.

“These talented people are charged with creating our next innovations and developing our tooling of the future. Within the team are some of the most highly skilled and experienced within the industry, not just within Australia, but from around the globe.”

A new era is set to begin today, as Maritimo unveils the largest motor yacht in its history, with the global reveal of the brand’s latest flagship vessel, in the form of the new M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht.

Of all the Maritimo flagships that precede it, none have had the level of customer input or degree of design development as the M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht, said Barry-Cotter.

The global reveal of the iconic new flagship marks the seventh launch or reveal for Maritimo in 2021, as the renowned long-range motor yacht brand sees unprecedented demand, with several orders for the M75 already in its production pipeline.

The M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht is slated for its official global launch in late 2022.

Preceding the M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht, other new models announced in 2021 include the M55 Flybridge Motor Yacht, M60 Flybridge Motor Yacht, S55 Sedan Motor Yacht, S60 Sedan Motor Yacht, M600 Offshore Motor Yacht and S600 Offshore Motor Yacht, with one more exciting announcement before the end of 2021.

“Next year, 2022, will be as exciting as 2021, as Maritimo will see in the official global launches of each of these new models,” he said.

“The next generation of Maritimo’s latest new models have formed the foundation of Maritimo’s sales for the future, with the brand welcoming record sales of new motor yachts to owners from around the globe, with orders now out into the third quarter of 2024.”

Maritimo’s boat show calendar was still heavily impacted by the effects of the global pandemic and related travel restrictions in 2021, however, the company record motor yacht orders at both Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May, and Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November.

“At these shows, we have congratulated a number of owners on their third, fourth and even fifth Maritimo purchase, as well as welcoming many who are just beginning their Maritimo journey, as first time Maritimo owners,” said Barry-Cotter.

Owners such as Deb and Mick Sangster from QLD, Australia and Mickey Beanini from Rydalmere in NSW, Australia.

The Sangsters bought their first Maritimo in 2011 and fell in love with the brand. “We keep buying Maritimo’s not just for the boats, but for the whole team that goes with it,” she said. “Their attention to detail and service is amazing.”

Mickey Beaini ordered his first Maritimo six months ago. “I was drawn by the quality, the design, attention to detail and the dual-use for us, luxury cruising and game fishing,” he said.

As Maritimo steams into the future with record orders and an unprecedented range of new models entering production it has been carefully growing its team of highly skilled craftspeople and full-time apprentices over the course of the year and will grow its team further over the course of 2022 and 2023.

Upholding a proud history of design and manufacturing innovation, exceptional build quality, steadfast construction integrity, engineering excellence, and racing DNA for nearly 20 years, Maritimo is currently welcoming dedicated and passionate craftspeople into various career opportunities within its main state-of-the-art, Gold Coast-based boatbuilding facilities.

Maritimo is recruiting passionate, skilled people to join the team in the fields of lamination, boat building, cabinet making, plug and pattern making and marine electrical.

Maritimo recognises the key to its future mission of crafting the world’s highest quality motor yachts centres around the training and development of its apprentices and growing them into the next generation of highly skilled Maritimo craftspeople.

Maritimo has a proud legacy of the development of its apprentices within its Maritimo Momentum apprentice program, with its apprentices taking out top accolades at the annual Gold Coast TAFE awards for the past three years.

Maritimo apprentices’ Jesse Blackley and Matt Warren recently won Gold Coast TAFE’s 1st place prize in the category of Cert III Marine Craft Construction (3rd Year) and Cert III Marine Craft Construction (4th Year) respectively, whilst recent Maritimo Momentum apprentice graduate, Zoe De Pryck was awarded the Queensland Apprentice of the year by the Australian Boating Industry Association for her achievements in Cert III Cabinet Making.

Exciting new career pathways are on offer to select groups of full-time apprentices in the areas of Cert III Marine Craft Construction, Cert III Cabinet Making (Furniture), Cert III Composite Technician, Cert III Engineering (Fabrication & Welding), Cert III Furniture Finishing (French Polishing), and Cert III Automotive Refinishing Technology (Spray Painting).

Maritimo holds a unique position globally in the motor yacht manufacturing sector being the only company with a dedicated race division providing invaluable learnings that flow through to the production line.

The current UIM XCAT Powerboat World Champions Maritimo Racing have recently dispatched its winning R30 XCAT to the UAE in readiness for the 2022 championships taking on the world’s best, whilst back in Australia Maritimo Racing is also busy readying themselves for the Boxing Day Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in their highly competitive 54’ Race Yacht Maritimo 11.

“We are beyond excited about our current position in the company’s journey, and believe 2022 will be even brighter in luxury motor yacht manufacturing, racing, and welcoming more owners and more staff aboard, in becoming a part of the best boat builders in the world,” said Tom Barry-Cotter.
