The latest in a line of Longtail McLarens, the new 765LT Spider is McLaren’s most powerful convertible supercar to date, bringing the highest levels of driver engagement to the McLaren LT experience.

The new 765LT Spider pays homage to Longtail principles, placing the driver at the centre of the sensory, dynamic and aural experience through the car’s ultra-low weight, enhanced aerodynamics and extreme performance.

The latest feature of the Retractable Hard Top roof opens up another level of driver experience and ultimately improves aerodynamic performance, leaving nothing between the driver and the elements. With the addition of a quad-exit titanium exhaust system, the 765LT Spider’s dramatic soundtrack takes the driving experience to another dimension.

“Sculpted for speed, the new 765LT Spider delivers untamed performance, and a finely honed, dynamically engaging driving experience that is pure to the Longtail lineage,” says Paul Harris, Managing Director APAC and China, McLaren Automotive.

“Defined by its distinctive and striking appearance with the dynamic attributes of a stretched silhouette to enhance aerodynamics, the new 765LT Spider is a car without compromise.

Every bit as exciting and rewarding to drive as the coupe, the new model makes the thrilling driving experience even more immersive, and we welcome this exhilarating addition to Australia.”

Every detail of the 765LT Spider is highly complex, its sculpted shape serving the cause of higher performance. Ferociously fast, the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 765PS, gives the 765LT Spider a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 598PS per tonne at lightest dry weight – and 800Nm of torque.

Transmission gear ratios have also been revised for even greater engagement and performance, helping the new Longtail to achieve the fastest lap times ever posted by a convertible LT model.

The immense performance and dynamic prowess of the new 765LT Spider – already proven in the 765LT coupe – are enhanced by three compelling factors: the stability of its MonoCage II-S structure, the game-changing design of its one-piece Retractable Hard Top roof and the ongoing determination of McLaren engineers to pursue the company’s philosophy of super-lightweight engineering.

The Spider version of the carbon fibre MonoCage II – designated MonoCage II-S – was developed alongside the coupe monocoque and shares most of its structural elements, including the windscreen surround.

Such is the strength and stiffness of the structure that no additional bracing is required over the coupe – another weight-optimising factor. At the rear of the car, carbon fibre structural supports are fully bonded into the chassis to provide rollover protection.

The bespoke carbon fibre body is carved and sculpted to increase downforce and improve cooling, while its lowered front suspension and wider front track add purposeful aggression. With high-performance lightweight materials throughout, the 765LT Spider gives the driver maximum feedback whether on road or track.

In addition, for customers who desire another level of personalisation for their vehicles, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has an almost limitless choice of customisation.

Offering two MSO Defined packs – the Clubsport Pack and the LT Black Pack both reduce overall weight and increase circuit performance of the vehicle.

With all of the class leading abilities of the coupe, the 765LT Spider also meets client’s expectations of exclusivity, with just 765 cars built to customer order. It joins the McLaren Automotive Supercar range, consisting of the 720S coupe, 720S Spider, 765LT coupe and the marque’s first ever High-Performance Hybrid, Artura.

The 765LT Spider is eligible for the McLaren Extended Warranty program in Australia.

The coverage level offered by the program includes guaranteed use of McLaren Genuine Parts fitted by fully trained McLaren technicians in the event of a claim when serviced at an authorised McLaren Automotive service centre, in addition to 24-hour roadside assistance for the duration of their cover.

“The LT lineage is not just renowned for breathtaking performance,” says Harris.

“The vehicles that are adorned with this badge also offer a level of exclusivity that is celebrated by owners and admired by car collectors worldwide.”

“Our mission is to ensure our owners can continue to enjoy their vehicles at the same standard in which they were built, retaining both the performance and the value of their investment.”

The McLaren 765LT Spider is priced from AUD$684,900 plus on-road costs.
