Tribute to history

The hotel’s Presidential Suites are named after notable figures who have left their mark on Hyde Park and the surrounding areas, bringing a sense of grandeur to the suites.

Augusta Suite

Augusta, Princess of Wales (1719–1772), transformed Kew Palace and its gardens, including the iconic Chinese Pagoda, after her marriage to Frederick, Prince of Wales.

Banksian Suite

The adventurer and botanist Sir Joseph Banks (1743–1820) sailed with Captain Cook, introduced exotic plants to Britain and expanded Kew Gardens. Bridgeman Suite Charles Bridgeman (1690–1738) was the royal gardener who transformed Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park in 1728, famously creating the ha-ha sunken wall.

Paxton Suite

Sir Joseph Paxton (1803–1865) is known for designing the Crystal Palace for the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park, which later found a new home in Crystal Palace.

Wallace Suite

A renowned British explorer, geographer, anthropologist and biologist, Alfred Russel Wallace (1823–1913) co-published the theory of natural selection with Charles Darwin and collected plants from Southeast Asia, which are now found in both Kew Gardens and Hyde Park.

Pioneering sustainability

With 36 hotels spread across 24 countries, the Mandarin Oriental marque is more than a beacon of luxury – it’s a trailblazer, championing sustainability and responsibly managing its environmental impacts and social commitments.

The group’s commitment to ecological preservation is unwavering.

It has successfully eliminated 99 percent of single-use plastics from all its operations (excluding supplier packaging) – a bold initiative that has the potential to prevent more than 930 metric tons of plastic waste annually.

With sustainability at the core of every endeavour, Mandarin Oriental guests are assured of unparalleled experiences that are naturally better for the planet.
