The Secret Women’s Series have a goal – to summit the highest free-standing mountain on Earth. The 14-day, all-women’s adventure of Mt. Kilimanjaro, one of the world’s ‘Seven Summits’, kicks off in August 2020.

While the adventure is sure to be challenging, and for some perhaps the biggest physical challenge they’ve faced, the sense of achievement in hiking almost six kilometres above sea level (5895-metres), is sure to be inspiring.

“When women travel together, there’s a special kind of support and camaraderie – it’s less competition and more teamwork,” says Sarah Hoyland, co-owner of The Classic Safari Company, explaining why she launched The Secret Women’s Series of small-group, escorted journeys for women, designed by women. “Having that mutual support and female companionship is a fun way to travel – but it also increases the chances of success when it comes to a serious challenge like climbing Kili.”

The group – which is limited to 14 – will be accompanied by a team of highly-experienced Tanzanian porters, guides and trek leaders.

While summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro is reward in itself, the trip also includes three days of un-planned leisure on the Spice Island of Zanzibar. With a stay at White Sands resort, adventurers can relax post climb on the pristine private beach, swim or snorkel in the warm turquoise sea or explore the fascinating laneways of Stone Town.

The 14-day Secret Women’s Series Summit to Sea adventure begins in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania on 15 August 2020 and costs US$6,990. It includes three nights pre-climb and four nights post-climb hotel accommodation, tented accommodation on Mount Kilimanjaro, transfers, Zanzibar flight, porterage and fees, emergency equipment and all meals on trek.

Moorings at Dar Es Salaam Yacht Club available.
