Ocean King of Chioggia near Venice has announced a new 88 model in its Classic series of Ocean King Explorers.
Creating superyacht impact from a small yacht that feels huge, the new Ocean King 88 Classic will inspire immediate confidence with its huge 7.5-metre beam, 4 decks, heavy displacement double-bottomed Grade A steel hull and aluminium superstructure.
This is a yacht derived from clever engineering, reliability, and ease of maintenance rather than interior demands. With emphasis placed on the engine room layout to offer ease of access to the reliable and proven systems installed, combined with ventilation, insulation, and spaciousness make for an easy to maintain performer.
A commercial shipping approach to the yacht’s engineering heart. Access to the engine room is through the stern garage which could be configured for multiple purposes such as a dive centre, watertoy and fishing storage, or as a small beach club.
Developed in conjunction with the VYD Studio of Venice, the 88 Classic offers a gross tonnage of 238, rare in a yacht of this size. The standard interior arrangement is 5 stateroom accommodation with the full-beam master stateroom on the main deck, with an abundance of light, as is more usual on larger yachts.
Generous crew accommodation is forward on the lower deck with the Captain’s cabin behind the wheelhouse on the upper deck.
The upper deck with its well-apportioned skylounge opens up to a further dining area for the full compliment of guests and deck storage for a 6m tender, watertoys, and crane.
Alberto Ballarin of Ocean King says “We have listened to our customers.
We know they now want a rugged explorer with long range but with superyacht exterior finish and interior.
The new Classic 88 offers that and a flybridge deck with a great seating and entertaining area, and a really large rear cockpit deck which welcomes owners and guests to what appears to be a much larger yacht. The full walkarounds on all decks mean the crew has practical access to all parts of the yacht. We did not want a widebody design for it.”
With a range of 8,000 nautical miles at a speed of 8 knots consuming only 36 litres per hour, the Ocean King Classic 88 is a true world cruiser.
