Green Yachts, who specialise in the design of low environmental impact yachts and Italstyle, a team of designers with 20 years’ experience in the design of luxury boats, have combined talents in the Explorer 45 Tetrosomus.
The design draws inspiration from the Tetrosomus, an obscure fish with a very original shape with clear and defined geometry that lives in the depths of the sea, over 200 metres down where the pressure is very high. For this reason, nature has endowed it with a very robust exoskeleton structure.
Biomimics is the basis of the development of the project, where the form justifies the function and becomes aesthetics and a characterising architectural element.
The yacht was developed starting from an exoskeleton, like that of the fish; the outermost part in steel to protect the innermost part in aluminium, a hexagonal reticular structure characterises the aesthetics of the design of the perimeter surfaces.
The hexagon is found in nature in bee hives, for example, and is the structure that best allows the optimisation of spaces and the uniform distribution of loads and forces.
An aesthetic form with high structural performance, the vessel will be powered to be able to navigate in zero-emission mode with the latest generation hybrid engines. For waters of protected marine areas, it will be equipped with a Low Noise Geo-positioning system to allow remain stationary without using the anchor.
This system allows you to moor in the areas of southern France and Corsica, for example, where the ban on anchoring has recently been implemented to preserve the seabed.
The high and imposing bow was designed to face the most adverse sea conditions, while the lower stern maintains contact with the marine environment. The stern area with a level swimming pool is protected by high windbreak sides which also ensures greater privacy.
The vessel would be available in two versions, with high stern Ushuaia version and open stern Capri version. Two different layouts are available to navigate in total comfort and safety and two interior styles, one warm, Nordic, the other cooler, modern and Mediterranean.
The main deck has full-beam environments (exploiting the entire width of the ship), lounge and dining room, with large opening windows, and a central partition that can also be opened which makes the rooms separable.
The Explorer 45 Tetrosomus’ single volume can be managed by separating the rooms thanks to the large sliding windows. The full beam owner’s cabin has windows with hexagonal grating that mask the view from the outside, guaranteeing internal – external visibility, privacy and solar shading.
Inside, the styled interiors are by CPRN Homood, using Italian products and style, guaranteeing quality throughout.
The Green Yachts’ team guarantees the LCA, or life cycle assessment, a multi-step procedure for calculating the lifetime environmental impact of a product or service. This is a fundamental tool to know and guarantee the impact by raising the awareness of suppliers and users on the issue.
The yacht boasts a classic layout, to meet the typical needs of a yacht suitable for international charter.
The lower deck comprises four guest cabins, full-beam owner’s cabin on the main deck, saloon and dining room, on the upper deck wheelhouse and private saloon with outdoor dining room; on the flybridge deck a well-organised panoramic sun deck with a privileged view to the bow towards the vessel’s navigation.
The yacht is available for customisation, but in its current configuration, is designed at under 500GT, with a price starting from 19.6 million Euros, guaranteeing high-quality construction by Cheyenne Yachts Yard with interiors of Italian quality.
