The new 470 Regina from FIM (Fabbrica Italiana Motoscafi) is an open motor yacht designed to make the most of outdoor spaces thanks to the Bow Life concept.
The Italian shipyard states that “the ability to provide its guests with a close relationship with the sea is one of the 470 Regina’s key features.”
The aft of the boat has folding balconies and a splittable solarium (sundeck), two solutions that guarantee a spacious central area and great accessibility and liveability.
The stern bathing platform is equipped with a lifting system that will facilitate the launching and towing of a tender or jet ski.
The 470 Regina’s bow contains the true gem of the versatility concept that enhances outdoor spaces: the lounge solarium can be split in two and moved to the sides, thus creating a beach area. The designers renamed this unique configuration Bow Life.
This steppable area can be used in a variety of ways: with the possibility of filling it with seawater to create a small pool, or adding a removable table to convert it into an additional dining area. It also ensures natural lighting in the front cabin, which is situated beneath the reinforced glass.
Like its predecessor, 340 Regina, this model has been designed by Paolo Ferragni, owner of Ferragni Progetti, and is totally customisable: customers can choose from many different materials, accessories, colours and engines.
The 470 Regina is available with two Volvo Penta IPS 650 or IPS 800, reaching a maximum speed of 39 knots. All the onboard systems and instrumentation are Raymarine.
Corrado Piccinelli, owner of FIM, describes her as “A beautiful boat with unexpected spaces.
“The family feeling with the 340 Regina is clearly evident, but this new boat has some unique characteristics that set her apart from the boats that are currently on the market.
“The 470 Regina has a revolutionary bow, with a movable sunbathing area and a central pool.”
Manuela Barcella, co-owner of the company, states that the spaces have been optimised to provide more liveable volumes for the same length, an essential feature for competing in a crowded market.
A market that the FIM team is very familiar with, despite the fact that the shipyard was formally founded in 2019 after 20 years of experience in boat construction and refitting.
The brief was to create a boat with a sporty yet elegant line that symbolised Made In Italy design and quality. It’s been designed for customers who want to own a performing boat while still enjoying comfort and ample space.
The 340 Regina has already shown the team’s ability to provide custom solutions along with the eye for selecting high-quality materials and fabrics.
FIM dedicated the same level of attention to detail to the 470 Regina, choosing Made In Italy furniture and accessories for this new model.
Vannis Marchi, FIM partner and co-founder of the Italian fashion company Liu-Jo, was involved in the project and made an important contribution in terms of stylistic and aesthetic choices.
There are many high-end accessories in this 15-metre open: Artemide lamps in the interior, stern retractable cleats, telescopic carbon fibre poles for the bow awning and luxury wallpaper upholstery.
The sofa and pouf are made by a leading furniture maker situated in the Brianza area, Made In Italy luxury furniture district, an area where the furniture culture finds its roots and is handed down from generations.
In addition, the steering wheel is totally unique and not available on the market: the mold of the steering wheel has been built exclusively for this model, featured only on the 470 Regina.
The standard interior layout features two spacious master cabins of 2.15-metres height. Each cabin has its own private toilet and shower.
The forward owners’ cabin includes a versatile area that can be configured, according to the owners’ needs, into an office, bar or vanity console.
For customers who plan to spend the night on board with several guests, a three-cabin configuration is also available.
Modern ALPI woods, contemporary inserts and refined details make the atmosphere elegant and welcoming. Many upholstery elements can be customised by selecting from a variety of fabrics and leathers.
The extensive research of materials and furnishing accessories carried out by FIM is also made visible when entering the bathrooms.
The countertops are in Laminam with a marble-effect finish, which match and contrast with the premium Velis fixtures signed by the Italian company Nobili. The high-end petrol blue wash basins are made of stainless steel.
Premiering at the Cannes Yachting Festival, from 6 to 11 September, and Genoa International Boat Show, from 22 to 27 September, Hull #1 of the 470 Regina is currently under construction. It features twin Volvo Penta IPS 800.
The outboard version, equipped with three or four Yamaha 425 hp, will be specially conceived for the USA market ,where FIM has a dealer and several 340 Regina models have already been sold.
