World-record breaking engines, four different brands of amphibious vessels, classic Riva boats, New Zealand made, hand-built performance RIBS and the largest selection of luxury boats ever seen in a New Zealand boat show, at this year’s Auckland On Water Boat Show.
The Auckland On Water Boat Show – New Zealand’s largest on-water boat show – kicks off on Thursday 3rd October and is bringing with it a host of super-sized displays, luxury yachts and sea trials to the heart of the Viaduct Harbour until 6 October.
The show is unique in New Zealand in that it allows visitors to get onboard boats and head out into the Hauraki Gulf to see how they move and perform.
This year’s show will see an exceptionally large number of on-water exhibitors with big names like Australian brand Maritimo putting on their largest ever display in New Zealand in response to high demand.
Show highlights include:
A New Zealand-built jet which dwarfs people
This Christchurch-built HT1000 by New Zealand company Hamilton Jet is destined for international markets and produces a whopping 7400HP.
Much larger than a person, it will sit on Karanga Plaza and is being craned into place on the morning of Tuesday 1 October. Hamilton Jet has produced 52 of these HT1000s since 2009 and will place it next to the smallest jet it produces.
A New Zealand-built Riva replica
The epitome of elegance, this replica Riva was built in New Zealand by two local craftsmen using native timbers and the highest quality products. This nostalgic take on the heritage Riva Aquarama includes the construction and engine makeup of a modern vessel, with 150-year-old reclaimed NZ native timber framed windshield and custom stainless-steel anchor moulded into the bow section, as well as twin Chevrolet engines.
Four different amphibious vessels
This year’s show will feature amphibious vessels from four different brands, showing innovation is well and truly alive in the New Zealand marine industry.
Smuggler will show its new Strata 800 Mid Cabin with Orion wheels which is already being well-received while Stryda Marine will be showing how it uses the latest technology in the industry to achieve a class-leading, easy-boating amphibious power cat that will last in a harsh marine environment.
On Sealegs Island you’ll be able to see a range of vessels including its 9m Hydrasol RIB – the largest amphibious RIB Sealegs has ever produced – while Tectrax’ fully electric system uses self-contained hub motors that completely disappear within the hull with exceptional performance to take you through the heavy stuff.
The largest collection of luxury yachts on show in New Zealand
This year’s show represents one of the largest displays of luxury yachts ever seen on display in New Zealand – a direct reflection of what New Zealand buyers want.
Australian brand Maritimo is bringing its largest ever display to Auckland including its extremely popular M-Series and X-Series ranges. Another exciting release at the show is the long-cruising Swift Trawler, on show with 36 Degrees, with its bold stying and fuel efficiency, or Riviera’s 5400 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition; a stunning single level entertainer that raises the bar with intelligent design in a luxury sports package.
Orakei Marine will show the Prestige 630S with its powerful and robust hull design, the sporty feel of an express yacht and open sunroof. Plenty more luxury yachts on show include more Rivieras, Palm Beach/Grand Banks Motoryachts, Absolute Fly Yachts, Princess Yachts, Greenline Yachts, Aquila and more.
New Zealand-built RIBs
New Zealand-built performance RIBS will be in particular demand during the coming years with growing demand for chase boats that can keep up with high speeds.
This 12-metre beast by JP RIBS has been hand-crafted to meet that demand and is so new it’s being launched the weekend before the show. It will be available for sea trials during the show. Smuggler Marine has earned a well-deserved reputation for quality with its RIBS and will be back with a huge range at this year’s show.
