With the world-wide success from the debut of Grand Banks 60 in 2017, followed by the 54 in 2020, Grand Banks show no signs of slowing down in 2022.

The builder is once again pushing the envelope for design and engineering with the release of the new Grand Banks 85 flagship.

Like all new Grand Banks models, the GB85 benefits from nearly seven decades of building knowledge and the deliverance of more than 7,000 yachts. The GB85 maximises storage and ensures comfort, something potential owners will definitely enjoy.

A beam of 22-feet allows for a range of internal configurations and amenities for both guests and crew, with a focus on balancing sociability with privacy.

Designed to travel at up to 21 knots for extended cruising, the yacht is easily handled in a variety of sea conditions. GB85 adopted the company’s popular V-Warp technology, which combines minimal drag with maximum lift to provide stability and fuel efficiency.

Grand Banks utilised premium grade e-glass, carbon fibre and closed-cell foams infused with 100 percent vinylester resin, which allows for stability, durability and reduced weight.

The bluewater cruiser also benefits from a shallow draft, which is perfect for coastal cruising.

“First, we focused on what makes a superior long-distance cruiser while under way for long legs,” says Mark Richards, CEO of Grand Banks.

“This means understanding the rhythm that occurs while on passage and creating various spaces where you can separate from others off-watch.

“Some people on board are focused on running the boat, others are relaxing and others may be sleeping. This approach ticks a lot of boxes in how the design comes together.”

Hull one of the GB85 is powered with twin 1,000 hp Volvo IPS 1350s, while twin 1300 hp V8 Mans running conventional shafts have been installed in hull two, which is currently on order.

Richards reported that, during the pre-delivery test, the GB85 met all expectations.

The first Grand Banks 85 made her world debut at the 2022 Palm Beach International Boat Show, which ran from 24 to 27 March. The yacht was then delivered to her owners.

She will be briefly stateside before heading to Europe for the 2022 Cannes Yacht Festival, from 6 to 12 September.
