They have been working closely over the last few years developing new technology in the form of “Assisted Foiling” for Galeon Yachts Power boats.

They claim this will be the first use in the world of this technology on such Production boats.

Assisted Foiling is a way to partially lift the boat out of the water akin to lighten the weight, and make it go faster with the aid of underwater foils.

It operates passively without human intervention. In other words, the boat driver does not need to do anything whatsoever. The foils provide a certain amount of lift and also greatly improve seakeeping having a natural tendency to counteract rolling.

Assisted foiling is not “flying” and the additional speed gained is to remain at reasonable levels which otherwise would be dangerous if the boat suffered rapid decelerations. With Assisted foiling achieves an increase in speeds that otherwise would be achieved with the next size of engines, so the behaviours of the boat remains very similar and will avoid the risk of a fully flying foiling boat.
