Italian builder Pershing launched the first yacht in its new GTX line – a GTX116 named Caffeine bought by an American owner.
The model ushers in a new era for the brand, with design aimed at the American market from the combined boards of the Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee and Engineering Department, and Fulvio di Simoni.
The GTX116 offers the same sleek profile befitting the performance cruiser brand, enhanced by a triple waterjet installation on Caffeine coupled to the optional triple MAN V12 2000 engines for a top speed of 35.5 knots and a cruise speed of 29.5 knots.
“I spent years searching for a yacht that’s perfect for Miami but could never find one,” says her owner.
“Now my ideal model is finally a reality thanks to the Pershing 116GTX, which gives me five suites, a sunroof on the upper deck, a huge spa pool, plenty of space for the crew, a large garage for tenders, and the best silver paintwork of all time.
“And not only beauty and comfort,” he adds, “but also the quality and safety that only a Pershing can provide.”
The GTX116 measures 35 metres and sports a 7.7-metre beam, which delivers a remarkable 150 square metres of outdoor areas connected seamlessly to the water.
There’s a signature style feature at the bow, which the brand says references luxury automotive imagery, in turn identifying the model as a Sport Utility Yacht (SUY).
This is enhanced with a new shade of grey for the paint job, contrasted by a special shade of blue for the deckhouse,
Of note is a garage that can carry up to a 5-metre tender along with a jet ski and other water toys, and there is also a 39-square-metre beach club with an electro-hydraulic taffrail that opens to connect the beach with the swim platform.
Up top, the 40-square-metre sundeck serves as a flybridge with a second helm station, and with social areas protected by a carbon hardtop. There’s a comfortable saloon en plein air complete with a wet bar. At main deck level, there’s a drop-down terrace on the port side to offer additional deck space, accessed from the side deck or from sliding glass doors from the saloon.
While hull number one has been fitted with triple MAN 12V 2000s, each rated at 2,000 hp, the model is offered with triple MAN V12 1800 units, rated at 1,800 hp, as standard delivering a still-sprightly top speed of 32.5 knots and a useful fast cruise of 26.5 knots.
