Italian builder Capoforte’s collaboration with designer Christian Grande has produced a series of impressive and exciting models over recent months. Now the team has gone one further with the release of the first Collezione model, which takes the form of the SX280i Collezione.

The marked ability to use materials and colours in new and original combinations is, claims the shipyard, a key characteristic of Capoforte. The new SX280i Collezione stands as the interpretation of a successful model by the yard, shown in the combinations and colours and thereby becoming a collector’s unique piece – a boat destined to remain a one-off in its features.

The showing of the first Collezione at last year’s Cannes Yachting Festival was quickly followed by the announcement of the future development of another custom-built model by the shipyard. The initiative attracted considerable interest, according to the yard, confirming the desire of owners not to forego the option of unique and unrepeatable customisation even in the small boat sector.

“Collezione should not be understood as it is in the fashion world, but indicates the desire to collect a unique piece, dedicated to enthusiasts who want to own a product that can never be confused with another,” explains the designer Christian Grande.

“The ability to create models such as the SX280i Collezione is a perfect example of the constructive, technical, and stylistic capabilities of the Capoforte brand,” adds Grande.

Key to the SX280i Collezione is its adaptability – despite measuring just 8.7 metres, it offers the flexibility for water sports or for days of pure seaborne relaxation, combining a high-performance hull, comfort and elegance.

The hull and deck are painted in a muted blue called Blue Ulisse, which matches the rich Cognac cushions on the deck and the Sunset Gold of the dashboard.

Innovative details include a padded cockpit edge for safety and comfort, which also highlights the yard’s manufacturing skills. The boat screams contact with the sea thanks to its generous swimming platform at the stern, which the large cockpit won’t feel cramped with family and friends on board.

There’s a rotating rear backrest that creates a sunbed over the engine compartment, while the central area offers a comfortable L-shaped lounge facing the helm, which has a double ergonomic seat as part of the central console.

Forward, there’s an inviting sunbed and a C-shaped bow sofa creating a second alfresco social area, and there’s a head compartment amidship under the central console unit.

The ‘i’ in the models’ name refers to inboard – the SX280i is offered with a sterndrive unit coupled to a Volvo Penta V8 petrol or MerCruiser diesel. The 350 hp V8 version offers a great turn of speed, maxing out at 39 knots with a useful cruise of 21 knots.
