As Technology Partner, BMW provides its engineering competence to ORACLE Team USA in facets including design and aerodynamics to give them a competitive advantage against their five international rivals.
The team, led by skipper Jimmy Spithill, gets about on land between the Dockyard and Hamilton driving the all-electric BMW i3, thrilled with its ability to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds.
Back at The Boat Works, General Manager, Shane Subichin described his first drive of the compact BMW i3 as “electrifying!”
“It delivered incredible power upon acceleration – I didn’t expect it! At The Boat Works we are totally committed to environmental practices and so are our customers.
“Our customers appreciate the pristine waters that surround us and our dedication to a clean, 5-star facility, and we have decided to continue ethos on land.”
The Boat Works customers and visitors who drive their own BMW i3 are able to drop in and recharge their cars at The Boat Works’ charge point, a handy stop between Brisbane and Surfers Paradise.
While it’s recharging, customers are encouraged to refuel themselves and savour the water views and quality cuisine at the fully-licensed Galley Restaurant.
