Currently under-construction, luxury hotel Ardo will be home to North Queensland’s first infinity rooftop pool complete with spectacular ocean views.

The sky-high pool is perched 25 metres above the Coral Sea with views extending out to Magnetic Island.

Newly released artist impressions show the pool will be surrounded by terracotta-hued sunloungers and feature green glass mosaic tiles. It’s heralded to be the jewel in Ardo’s luxurious crown allowing guests to take in 180-degree ocean views from the sun-drenched rooftop with a cocktail in hand.

While access to the rooftop pool and the 48 surrounding daybeds will be a perk for hotel guests only, bookings will be available to the public for Ardo’s Rooftop Bar serving up expertly curated cocktails and tapas-style eats.

There will also be a world-class steak and seafood restaurant open to the public, Marmor, which also resides on the top floor.

Ardo and The Ville CEO Michael Jones said they’re expecting the pool to be the hottest new place to enjoy North Queensland’s stunning sunsets over the Coral Sea.

“The rooftop infinity pool and bar will deliver a new level of luxury and relaxation in the tropics, all within an architecturally designed five-star resort,” said Jones.

“Ardo hotel guests will soon be able to sip a cool drink by the infinity pool while looking out to the world’s largest and most celebrated reef system.

“There’s already a huge amount of hype around the pool within North Queensland, but this will also showcase a new level of hotel amenities to visitors to the region not previously on offer in Townsville.”

Excitement for the hotel’s launch later this year is growing. With bookings for the hotel and rooftop spaces expected to be announced soon, Australian holidaymakers can start to plan for a tropical summer holiday.

The $88-million hotel has been designed by the esteemed architecture firm Dubois, known for its impressive portfolio of considered, practical and beautiful designs. The hotel showcases a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality for guests, that will deepen the connection with the surrounding environment and elevate the poolside experience.

Founder David Dubois said that Ardo stands as a true testament to architectural ingenuity through the creative development of the rooftop landscape.

“Inspiration began with the hotel’s exceptional location – every aspect of its design has been considered to showcase the uninterrupted ocean views and the stunning sunsets that come from its unique position on the breakwater.

“The team has shown significant effort in seamlessly converging every element, from vibrant greenery to operable sun louvres, to craft a haven of opulence and serenity,” he said.

Ardo will open with 132 rooms and suites, all with private balconies or courtyards while many of the rooms enjoy the same panoramic views as the rooftop sanctuary.

Ardo is the latest addition to the tourism portfolio of Morris Group which includes neighbouring property, The Ville Resort-Casino.

Morris Group also owns and operates Northern Escape Collection, a suite of boutique properties spread across the distinct and diverse landscapes of Queensland – Orpheus Island Lodge, Mt Mulligan Lodge, and Beechmont Estate.
