The recently launched RMK120 Seven Seas is the sixth collaboration between Dutch design studio Vripack and Turkish shipyard RMK Marine, and it’s a pocket-sized explorer imagined on a grand scale.
Designed for an experienced yachtsman with world cruising in mind, the long-range, super-efficient, 120-foot steel-hulled yacht captures expedition cruising refined by a family-focused design.
The Vripack-penned exterior performs on many levels. At first glance, it carries the familiar heavy duty lines of a traditional trawler-style yacht; a masculine capability that sits at the heart of Vripack’s DNA. On closer inspection, however, the focus of the exterior design is on the owner experience, with areas enhanced for guest appeal and designed from the perspective of those spending time on board.
A key example is the aft-facing seating on the three-tiered mezzanine, ideal for when underway. Nestled between the nine-metre-wide swim platform and main deck aft dining area, it creates a large, convivial space for guests with views out to sea.
“The mezzanine seating is a cool alternative to a typical forward-facing layout found on an explorer,” says Vripack co-creative director Bart M. Bouwhuis.
“It creates a carefully elevated stepped deck that offers an easy entrance into the lazarette, more space for socialising and a real connection to the yacht’s surroundings. It’s a smart exterior layout that gives the owner the outdoor living space and feel of a large boat on a compact 120-foot explorer.”
Further guest space forward of the wheelhouse is divided into two halves, with sun loungers, seating and dining found directly in front of the bridge, and a stepped down technical area at the bow.
Similarly on the private top deck with a partially shaded hard top, a forward guest area with jacuzzi, bar, sunpads and dining is balanced with a 55-square-metre tender deck aft, equipped with a 7.5 Tonne crane for lifting tenders and toys in and out of the water with ease.
“I define the RMK120 Seven Seas as ‘the power of elegance’ and the ‘elegance of power’,” says Cüneyt Okcu, Yacht Division Director at RMK Marine. “Like many of our previous Vripack designs, you feel cosy and safe. You can truly feel the spirit of the sea in Seven Seas.”
By fashioning the luxuries of a superyacht into the DNA of an explorer, the RMK120 delivers low operation costs, more accessibility in remote areas, and all with a layout driven by life on board.
Seven Seas will be on display at Monaco Yacht Show, 25 to 28 September, Location: S21.
