Matthew Walford has joined Benetti as area manager for Australia and New Zealand, effective from 1 February 2025. The shipyard says this appointment is part of the company’s efforts to strengthen its presence in a region identified as a key market.
Walford has over 20 years’ experience in the industry, covering new builds, brokerage and refit. His career has included roles such as business development manager with aluminium shipbuilder Austal-Oceanfast Australia. He has also been involved with the Azimut-Benetti Group, having most recently served as CEO of d’Albora Marine, overseeing Azimut Yachts sales in Australia.
Daniela Petrozzi, Benetti sales director, says: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Matthew Walford as area manager for Australia and New Zealand. He has notable relevant experience and regional market knowledge that is strategically valuable for the shipyard. We look forward to strengthening our service and client relationships in this important market.”
Benetti, established in 1873, is an Italian shipyard specialising in luxury yachts. It designs, builds and sells vessels in composite materials from 34 to 44 metres, as well as steel and aluminium yachts from 37 to over 100 metres.

The company’s range includes six categories: Class, Oasis, B.Yond, B.Now, B.Century and Custom. Benetti operates as part of the Azimut-Benetti Group, a global leader in yacht manufacturing, with production facilities in Livorno, headquarters in Viareggio and offices in Fort Lauderdale, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and London.
