The Cannes Yachting Festival will mark the debut of two Horizon FD87 Skyline yachts in Europe, both of which are new launches in Horizon’s FD Series. The FD87 Skyline hull 7 and hull 10 are fast displacement motoryachts that combine impressive interior volume with cruising capabilities. Designed with the Skyline (enclosed bridge) configuration, the yachts retain the FD Series’ signature exterior styling penned by yacht designer Cor D. Rover, atop the High Performance Piercing Bow design and hull platform.

Springing from the popular FD85 platform, which made its European debut at the 2017 Cannes Yachting Festival, the Horizon FD87’s extended length allows for even more amenities. Each FD Series yacht incorporates feedback from current Horizon owners into its design while capitalising on the innovations and ingenious amenities fitted in its predecessor.

Offering a five-stateroom layout with an enclosed skylounge on the upper deck, the new FD87 Skyline hull 10, which has obtained CE Marking, incorporates superyacht amenities into its voluminous design. Within the 23’ 3” beam, guests are welcomed into the light and airy main deck salon, highlighted by oak woodwork and featuring an ingenious convertible dining table that easily folds up into a breakfast bar.

The forward galley can be separated from the salon via privacy doors and a Hi/Lo island partition while the full-beam master stateroom is situated furthest forward. Four spacious guest staterooms outfitted in elegant Wenge reside on the lower deck while the upper deck features a comfortable enclosed skylounge aft of the helmstation.

The foredeck area aboard FD87 Skyline hull 10 has been designed with a settee and dinette, sprawling sunpad, and “love seat” forward to accommodate not only cocktail hour but sunbathers as well as those who wish to enjoy the unobstructed views. Aft of the enclosed skylounge on the upper deck, a bar with stools, a dinette and lounging area, and a barbecue invite al fresco relaxation. Horizon has, to date, sold a record 25 FD Series yachts in less than three years.

Yet another head-turner that will delight visitors is the new Horizon FD87 Skyline Hull 7, which features an attractive stone grey hull with a light gold boot stripe.

Characterised by large sections of floor-to-ceiling windows and fitted with dark Wenge wood and vinyl paneling with a stainless steel inlay, the main salon conveys a zen-like atmosphere that is carried throughout the interior.

Details and considerate design features have been incorporated throughout, such as the additional portside door in the galley that allows crew access without interrupting guests in the salon and dining area, and the walk-in closet to starboard offering plenty of storage.

The FD87 Skyline hull 7’s spacious aft deck offers panoramic views as well as an inviting seating area for 10-15 people, including a parquet teak table and freestanding furniture. The unique design feature of this yacht is an island skylounge surrounded by a walkaround deck, which not only brings privacy to the interior but also provides a seamless transition between the exterior entertaining areas.
