SwimTrek, the preeminent purveyor of aquatic escapades, has joined hands with the Galápagos Conservation Trust (GCT).
This newly forged alliance will see SwimTrek contributing 1 percent of its revenue from the Galápagos Explorer Trip to bolster GCT’s essential conservation endeavours in the Galápagos Islands.
This partnership underscores SwimTrek’s unwavering dedication to eco-conscious tourism and the safeguarding of our planet’s natural marvels. Their meticulously curated swimming adventures are designed to tread lightly on the environment, fostering a profound appreciation for nature among participants.
By allying with conservation powerhouses like GCT, SwimTrek is advancing its commitment to sustainability. This collaboration aims to amplify GCT’s mission of protecting the Galápagos’ unique biodiversity, tackling threats like invasive species, plastic pollution and climate change head-on.
“We’re thrilled to champion GCT’s conservation efforts in the Galápagos. At SwimTrek, we believe travel should be a force for good. This partnership empowers us to contribute to preserving one of earth’s most extraordinary ecosystems,” said Ash Van Wensveen, Managing Director of SwimTrek.
“This venture not only enriches the environmental landscape but also enhances our customers’ experiences – they can embark on their Galápagos swimming odysseys with the gratifying knowledge that they’re making a tangible difference.”
Mike Crossley, Head of Fundraising and Communications at GCT, remarked: “We seek allies, not just donors, who can help drive meaningful change and protect the unique species and habitats of the Galápagos.
Our new partnership with SwimTrek exemplifies what we can achieve together. SwimTrek’s support will significantly impact the delicate ocean and island ecosystems of the Galápagos, and we eagerly anticipate our collaborative efforts.”
The partnership between SwimTrek and GCT exemplifies the powerful synergy between businesses and non-profits in fostering positive environmental change. This collaboration is a testament to their shared vision of protecting and preserving the Galápagos’ singular ecosystem for generations to come.

The Galápagos Conservation Trust (GCT) is the sole UK charity dedicated exclusively to conserving the Galápagos Islands – one of the planet’s most unique and ecologically significant, yet vulnerable, regions.
Home to 80 percent of its land birds and 97 percent of its mammals and reptiles found nowhere else on earth, the Galápagos is facing a critical threat, with over 80 species now Endangered or Critically Endangered.
For nearly three decades, GCT has been at the forefront of raising funds and awareness, delivering impactful conservation projects in collaboration with Ecuadorian authorities, local communities, scientists, and other NGOs.
GCT’s conservation efforts are consolidated into two ecosystem-level programs – Islands and Oceans – aligned with international biodiversity and climate targets for 2030.
Their 2023–2025 project portfolio focuses on four key areas – preventing species extinction, eradicating invasive species, building climate resilience, and reducing human impact.
Their vision remains steadfast. The unique nature and beauty of the Galápagos Archipelago must be conserved and protected in perpetuity.
