Dutch private submarine maker U-Boat Worx has revealed new imagery of the firm’s Super Sub. The high-speed submersible is described by the company as a breakthrough in its commitment to combining underwater exploration with user-focused design.
As the flagship model of U-Boat Worx, the Super Sub offers a streamlined, droplet-shaped hull and advanced wing configurations with hydrodynamics aimed at reducing drag and maximising efficiency underwater.
The Super Sub is equipped with a propulsion system that features four in-house-engineered thrusters. Together, they deliver 100 kW of power, propelling the sub to speeds of up to 9 knots underwater.
This performance makes it one of the fastest models in its class, with capabilities including steep 45-degree climbs and inclined manoeuvres. These features enable the submersible to offer experiences that traditional submersibles cannot.
The Super Sub’s design prioritises not just speed but also comfort and visibility. Its panoramic ultra-clear acrylic hull affords 360-degree views, allowing occupants to feel fully immersed in the underwater environment.
Inside, the sub accommodates two passengers and a pilot, with seating arrangements that feature a five-point harness system designed to provide safety and stability during high-speed dives.
Roy Heijdra, marketing manager at U-Boat Worx, says: “The Super Sub is a marvel of engineering and luxury.
“It’s more than a submersible – it’s a first-class ticket to explore the ocean like never before, combining speed, safety, and sophistication in every dive.”
The Super Sub is part of U-Boat Worx’ bespoke submarine programme, which offers clients the opportunity to create a customised submersible that meets their specific tastes and needs.
While the Super Sub is primarily designed for adventurous and thrill-seeking individuals, its capabilities extend to broader applications. U-Boat Worx says it sees potential for the model in search and rescue operations and other specialised underwater missions, thanks to its speed, manoeuvrability, and agility, which make it well-suited for tasks requiring precision and reliability.
Founded in 2005, U-Boat Worx now has more than 60 submersibles in operation worldwide, and the company has earned a reputation as a pioneer in the industry, with a focus on safety, performance and comfort.
