Visitors to the 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will be able to get hands-on with the suite of products under the Twin Disc Pacific banner.
To experience the fingertip control of the Twin Disc system, the 47ft Twin Disc vessel, Revolution will demonstrate the Twin Disc Quickshift transmission, industry-leading Express Joystick electronic controls and EPS position hold system, including continuous and fully-proportional hydraulic thrusters, while appreciating the stability afforded by the Seakeeper 9 installed.
The Seakeeper Haines Signature 788SF will conduct static, on-water demonstrations showing the dramatic benefits of the Seakeeper 2, specifically designed for boats 27 to 32ft.
“The Seakeeper 2 is 25% lighter and 20% smaller than the Seakeeper 3,” said Glenn Frettingham, Managing Director Twin Disc Pacific.
“It eliminates up to 95% of boat roll and will be popular with recreational outboard craft looking for stability, safety and a pleasant day on the water for all, no matter what the conditions.
“The Seakeeper 2 is effective at all boat speeds, including zero, it can operate in all sea states, and the feedback we’re already getting is the large trailerable to mid-size fishing boat market just love it”.
Running exclusively on 12-volt power, it does not require generator power, and the compact size means that it can fit into the leaning post of a centre console boat, thus requiring no structural modifications. The Seakeeper 2 will use the new touchscreen control panel and allows users to capture real-time performance information.
“The Seakeeper 2 is already proving popular with owners of outboard boats under 32ft, which is the highest growth segment of the market,” added Glenn.
Priced at $29,990 + GST (Australian retail price), the Seakeeper 2 will complement the array of vessels in the sub-32ft market which will be well represented at SCIBS 2018 in the dedicated Sports, Leisure & Fishing precinct as well as dozens more vessels on-water.
Also from the US, the Seatorque Boss Enclosed Shaft System which offers boat owners a myriad of benefits. The multiple-award winning ‘Boss’, a product based on 14 years R&D, is a totally enclosed, oil-filled, self-contained, shaft and thrust bearing assembly, supplied as a complete unit from transmission output coupling to propeller end.
The non-rotating, full length shaft casing and thrust bearing assembly minimises mechanical losses to only 2 percent, leaving valuable extra power where you want it, for propulsion.
The Boss further delivers unrivalled ruggedness in operation coupled with the lowest underbody drag of any system currently available.
Suited to commercial and recreational vessels from 50 to 200 feet, the Boss provides reduced friction, better efficiency, allows for the use of soft engine mounts reducing vibration. It bolts on to the hull transferring the thrust from the propellors to the hull and not back through the engine mounts, meaning there is less pressure on the engine mounts and ensures they are perfectly aligned.
With the Boss, there are no outdrive-type appendages, vulnerable to damage if impacted or bottomed out and no costly multiple propellers to damage in the event of contact with debris or worse.
Seatorque products, in particular, the Boss, enjoy great synergy with the existing Twin Disc propulsion systems, working together to further reduce vibration. Global boat builders are using them to great effect, including Grand Banks, Outer Reef, Nordhavn, Fleming, Ocean Alexander and Riviera.
Glenn Frettingham, commented “Twin Disc’s tagline and brand promise is ‘We make boats perform better’, adding Seatorque to our product mix means we can emphasise this focus and advance it further with improved performance through reduced noise, vibration and a more efficient use of thrust from the engines and propellers.”
