Italian shipyard Otam has launched its latest model, the 28-metre Otam 90 GTS Sexy Me. The yacht reached a top speed of 45.4 knots during sea trials, surpassing the contractual 42 knots. The waterlines on Sexy Me were designed by Umberto Tagliavini and Aldo Scorzoni of Marine Design & Services, while the exterior styling was penned by Giuseppe Bagnardi from BG Design Firm.
“Celebrating our 70th anniversary with a project like the Otam 90 GTS and with a client so decisive in their requests has been the best gift we could receive,” says Matteo Belardinelli, sales and communication manager at Otam. “It was another opportunity to take on the challenge of customising a very fast boat where even shifting 50 kilograms from starboard to port can have a significant impact. These are the kinds of challenges that allow us to evolve and grow.”
The Otam 90 GTS Sexy Me is powered by two 2,600-horsepower MTU engines and Arneson surface propellers, achieving impressive performance during sea trials. Despite additional weight added due to custom features, including a rotating passerelle, stabilisers, marble throughout and a high-end stereo system, the shipyard says the yacht maintained a smooth and responsive navigation.
“We concentrated on a meticulous analysis of weight distribution and the engineering of the superstructure to completely eliminate all support pillars,” says Belardinelli. “The expansive structural side windows and the spherical windscreen of the helm create an incredible sense of space on board complemented by an internal height of over 2.2 metres.”
The yacht’s design includes a carbon-fibre helm console inspired by racing cars, featuring an independent cooling system for the console electronics. The metallic silver paint with bronze accents, developed by Awlgrip, adds a distinctive touch.
The layout of the yacht features three ensuite cabins, including a full-beam owner’s suite, a VIP cabin, and a guest cabin, with additional areas for relaxation and dining. The main deck includes a cockpit with an opening hardtop, separate access to the kitchen, and a generously sized crew area. The yacht also has a tender garage capable of housing a 4.35-metre tender, with customisation options available.
“This is a comprehensive project, an exceptionally versatile series available in three variants: GTS, HT, and T-TOP,” says Belardinelli.
“It can accommodate a wide array of diverse requests thanks to a foundational engineering approach that is truly unmatched.”
The Otam 90 series allows for bespoke designs through the Otam Co Design Lab, offering owners the opportunity to collaborate with their own designers on custom layouts.
“I also want to extend the compliments and praise we received during our debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the sea trials to all our employees and artisans,” Belardinelli adds.
