Palumbo Superyachts, yachting division of the Palumbo Group, has announced the sale of a new 50 metre yacht under the brand Columbus Yachts.

The owner, who already owns a yacht built by the Group, again chose Palumbo Superyachts to give life to his new project.

Luca Dini Design handled the exteriors and interiors of this new model, sold by Palumbo Superyachts after the new ISA Alloy 43 metres, also designed by Dini, now under construction in the Italian shipyard based in Ancona.

Featuring numerous solutions designed at the owner’s request, Columbus S 50 can accommodate 11 guests in five cabins on three decks and a total crew of 11 in seven cabins. Columbus S 50, with hull and superstructure built in aluminium, will be 49.50 metres long, with a beam of 9.15 metres and a gross tonnage of 499 GT (under the 500 GT threshold).

Driven by two 2000 hp MTU engines, Columbus S 50 will have a top speed of 20 knots in semi-displacement mode, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a transoceanic range.

Designer Luca Dini worked in close cooperation with Palumbo Superyachts’ engineering department to build a model that accurately meets the needs of the owner.

Well known for the Columbus 40 SH (Sport Hybrid) and specifically for the two units built and renamed K and Eleonora III, the tradition of the brand continues, building tailor-made superyachts in aluminium. This can be seen in the vertical bow, a distinctive feature that this model itself has helped make an iconic and sought-after feature on today’s yachts.

The exterior design expresses dynamism while maintaining well-balanced proportions, conveying an original style without being over- the-top and ensuring that its aesthetic will never go out of fashion. The pronounced edges and facets give the Columbus S 50 sleek lines, as well as making it easier to improve the layout of the interior spaces. Suffice to say that the bow area can comfortably accommodate the entire crew.

The owner’s desire to enjoy as much natural light as possible in the interiors has been fulfilled by the use of extensive glazed surfaces on all decks and particularly on either side of the main deck, where the outer gunwale is designed in such a way as to enjoy a complete view of the sea, even when sitting on the sofas in the lounge.

But the tailor-made technical solutions requested by the owner are the truly distinctive feature of Columbus S 50.

The customer, who has a longstanding friendship with Giuseppe Palumbo. Construction of the new 50 metre Columbus S superyacht will soon start in the Italian facilities based in Ancona, and the delivery to her owner is scheduled in Summer 2020.
