This year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS), set for 23 to 26 May, is shaping up to be another epic event, with more than 100 launches from 330 local and international brands, and 700 boats and 2,500 marine products.

“SCIBS is an unrivalled showcase and the Southern Hemisphere’s largest boating and marine lifestyle event,” says Mulpha Events General Manager Johan Hasser.

“From superyachts and luxury motor yachts to trailer boats and personal watercraft, marine gear and gadgets, SCIBS is the place to see everything the marine industry has to offer.”

Long-time exhibitor and show sponsor Pantaenius will have a stand in the new Marina Boulevard Hall, and is supporting the AIMEX Garden, a hospitality and business lounge for members.

The team will also have a stand near the superyacht marina. “We’re looking forward to reconnecting with customers and meeting new people,” says Michaela Claes, Operations Manager, Pantaenius Australia.

“It’s great to be able to sit down and discuss our customers’ cruising plans around Australia and the Pacific, which is very popular,” she continues.

“Many people change their policies to match their voyage plans, and we’re the only Australian-based insurer that can insure Australian and New Zealand boats heading to the Pacific.”

Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard’s participation at Sanctuary Cove this year will include collaborating with 30 of their 90 business partners, representing the best of the marine trades currently working in the Coomera marine precinct.

Magnificent motor yachts

Some of the world’s most sought-after brands will be displaying their latest models at SCIBS, including an impressive line-up from The Yacht Sales Co. with the Cora Cat 48 making its global premiere.

Continuing with the multihull theme, IIiad Catamarans will showcase the Iliad 53F, which won the 2024 Multihull of the Year Award in the MultiPower category. The model features one of the highest bridge deck clearances in her segment.

The Whitehaven Group – representing Whitehaven Motor Yachts, Harbour Classic, Aquila Power Catamarans and Integrity Motor Yachts – will have their own stand on the marina as well as a presence with Alexander Marine Australia, the official Whitehaven dealer.

In cooperation with dealers Mark Riley from Marine Riley and Todd Holzapfel, who heads up Alexander Marine Australia, Whitehaven will share the news of the refreshed Whitehaven 7000 series models, while the Whitehaven 7000 Hells Bells will be on display, showing the high level of customisation owners can expect.

Whitehaven will also host the world premiere of the new Harbour Classic 40, while Alexander Marine Australia (AMA) will host a sneak peek of the new Harbour Classic 52, which is in build, and the launch of the De Antonio D50 Coupé.

SCIBS will also be the Australia and New Zealand premiere of the exciting new Aquila 42, which is designed by world-renowned studio VPLP Design, alongside an Aquila 54 and an Aquila 36.

Integrity Motor Yachts will present the world premiere of the new 520SX Plus together with the 380SX and 470CE Plus.

Mitch Pachoud of Voodoo Yachts New Zealand will be displaying a Voodoo XF60 and says, “Sanctuary Cove is the biggest show for our market in Australasia, and usually has a good proportion of experienced owners visiting.

“It’s also where we first displayed the very first 60-foot Voodoo in 2012 after crossing from New Zealand to Australia in two days.”

TMG Yachts is set to host the much-anticipated premiere of the Prestige M48, a power catamaran hailed a luxurious floating villa, alongside the Prestige 420 and the Lagoon 46.

International brand debuts abound at the show – it will be the Australia debut for the Navetta 48 from Italy’s Absolute Yachts, and local-based Leigh-Smith Yachts will give the Vicem 95, which has been designed to suit the unique demands of Australian waters and owner preferences, its international show debut. International will also have the latest 49 Alaska on display at the show.

Princess Yachts Australia is planning a massive display of five current models – the V40, V55, F55, S65 and Y72. They’ll also be talking about the all-new Princess F58, which was recently announced at the 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show.

Having wowed boaters at her Asia- Pacific debut in Hong Kong last year, the CLB65 from CL Yachts will be making her way to Australia, where she’ll star at SCIBS 2024. At 19.7 metres in length and with one of the most comfortable beams in her class at 6.05 metres, this contemporary cruiser has been tailor-made for all-weather adventures in Australian waters.

Horizon Yacht Australia will again have a massive line-up – there will be two FD80s, one AMSA-certified for charter, as well as an FD90 and a V74 plus 10 brokerage models, worth more than AU$150 million. As the largest gathering of Horizon Yachts in the world, SCIBS will attract owners and devotees from all over the region.

Ray White Marine, representing the Ferretti Group in Australia, is planning a line-up that spans 38 to 92 feet, among them a Ferretti 500, an Arcadia 60 Sherpa, a 92 Custom, as well as the sensational Technohull 38 Grand Sport.

The largest vessel at SCIBS this year is Gulf Craft’s Nomad 101, a 30.34-metre tri-deck motor yacht that sets a new standard for sustainable yachting. The Nomad 101 perfectly blends innovative design and performance and is the ideal yacht for those looking to venture afar upon a luxurious yacht with little environmental impact.

The use of eco-friendly materials in the interior provides a modern and elegant aesthetic, while the expansive open spaces offer guests a comfortable atmosphere while traveling. The exterior design of Nomad 101 is equally impressive. The vast flybridge sunbathing areas and private terraces provide opportunities for outdoor relaxation and entertainment.

From Grand Banks, the GB60 on show will highlight the company’s focus on the bespoke customer experience. From Palm Beach Motor Yachts, offering an effortless cruising speed of 28 knots,  the Palm Beach 70 will be sure to stand out with both her timeless design and cutting-edge construction.

Local heroes

Alongside a record 12-boat display, Australian manufacturer Riviera will hold its annual Festival of Boating, comprising an exciting list of owners’ events over three days, including boating education sessions and workshops to encourage Riviera owners and their families to realise their ultimate boating experience.

“This will be a magnificent showcase for Riviera and our only boat show display in Australia this year,” says Riviera Australia owner Rodney Longhurst. “Visitors can see firsthand our internationally respected quality, practicality and luxury as they inspect select models from 39 to 78 feet.”

The much-anticipated reveal of Maritimo’s Black Edition range will feature in the Australian brand’s M75, M55, M600 and S55 on display. “These enhancements are designed to add yet another level of refinement and style to every Maritimo,” explains Phil Candler, Operations Manager.

“The Black Edition, born of the company’s meticulous review of onboard style, comfort and functionality, boasts new elements of elegance and sophistication.”

Yachtsmen International will return to Pier C at SCIBS 2024 with high-quality brokerage vessels up to 115 feet, including brands such as Horizon, Sunseeker, Mangusta, Princess and Azimut.

Managing Director Scott Wellington-Stones notes, “Sanctuary Cove represents a superb opportunity for us to see our valued clients and welcome new people, assisting clients in their search for the perfect yacht that meets both their needs and requirements.”

Sail stalwarts return

The sailing sector is also well represented at SCIBS 2024, and this year, the all-new Seawind 1170 will make its official Australian debut with exclusive distributors Multihull Central.

Spirit Marine Queensland will show an extensive range of Beneteau power and sailing yachts, including the Oceanis 40.1, 30.1 and a Beneteau First 27.

Meanwhile, Leopard Catamarans will show five vessels, including the 42 and 50 sailing cats. And from TMG Yachts, among a stellar line-up, there’s the Lagoon 46 that offers unmatched interior volume combined with versatile outdoor spaces.

The Dufour 41 sailing yacht will make its Southern Hemisphere debut, represented by The Yacht Sales Co.

The sailing specialists at the Windcraft Yachts will host the Asia-Pacific Premiere of the Hanse 510.

The Sanctuary Cove show will be the first chance for many who have been following the overseas release of Hanse’s big volume luxury family cruiser last October to see for themselves just why the design from French naval architects Berrett-Racoupeau has been attracting praise and accolades from the international boating press including being named winner of SAIL magazine’s coveted Top 10 Best Boats 2024.

Windcraft are the long-standing Australian and NZ dealers for Hanse Yachts and are looking forward to welcoming admirers of the 510 to their stand. “We are excited to show sailors how Hanse is utilising technology to enhance every aspect of the yachting experience,” says Anthony Bishop, Windcraft’s Managing Director.

“Fast and efficient push-button furling of headsails, in-mast furling, remote controls, digital systems management – all these developments have enabled boats that previously required a full crew can now be operated easily handled by just a couple or two people,” he explains.

“The Hanse 510 is large and luxurious but controlling and enjoying the boat is so much easier thanks to a suite of new tech tools,” Bishop adds.

The Hanse 510, and the equally acclaimed Hanse 460 will be available for show-goers to inspect on the marina at Sanctuary Cove.

RIBs, tenders and dayboats

For 2024, Sanctuary Cove is significantly increasing space within the Sports Leisure Fishing precinct for trailerboats and RIBs, expanding to include the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort grounds and the new Marina Boulevard Hall overlooking the superyacht arm of the marina.

While making its own debut at the show, the new Carbon Yachts will also proudly host the Australian launch of the Virtue 10 T-Top, a high-tech yacht with transformable aft area and drop-down bulwarks.

The Carbon Yachts team will also be on hand to discuss their other brands, including Saffier Yachts, YYachts, Candela and ASTenders.

Eyachts will exhibit the Axopar 29 Sun Top, the Axopar 45 Sun Top and the groundbreaking RAND Supreme 27 Electric – the first electric vessel in its category on the Australian market.

Meanwhile, in the luxury RIB tender segment, visitors will have their pick of the world’s major brands, including Zodiac, Brig, Highfield Boats and Technohull.

Sirocco Marine will present around 30 boats, representing the most popular models from Brig, Zodiac and Williams, as well as the versatile, Dutch-built dayboat with inboard diesel, the Sirocco 730i.

Highfield Boats, specialists in aluminium-hulled RIBs, will present the latest models, including the new Sport 600 and the Sport 660.

In addition, Highfield and ZeroJet will release the E330, the world’s only battery powered, jet propelled tender in production.

The Highfield E330 is a 3.36-metre (11-foot) RIB with a sturdy aluminium hull, 1.82-metre (6-foot) beam, and capacity for up to five passengers.

As well as the general benefits of electric over combustion (no petrol or diesel emissions, less noise, fewer moving parts and less maintenance, and a faster start), there are several benefits for electric jets when compared to electric outboards.

These include no exposed propeller for safer use in the water and safer swimming, a lower profile for easy beaching and access to shallow water, easier to stow and store, and light weight.

In the high-performance super-RIB segment, Greek-made Technohull is represented by Ray White Marine, whichwill be displaying the 38 Grand Sport – a 50-knot+ offshore RIB with athletic silhouette, exceptional seakeeping and onboard comfort.

Sealegs will again be showing the possibilities of amphibious craft with the Sealegs 9-metre Hydrasol fitted with a 450 hp Yamaha engine, and the Sealegs 8.5-metre Alloy Cabin.

Gear, gadgets and water toys

If gear’s your thing, SCIBS 2024 won’t disappoint. Raymarine will display its DAME-Award-winning Alpha performance displays and NeuBoat Dock, the 360-degree docking cameras, alongside its full range of industry-leading chartplotter and fishfinder solutions. FLIR cameras will also be on show, with live thermal imaging demonstrations.

From the Navico Group, an array of 2024 launches will include the new Lowrance Eagle, the HDS PRO with ActiveTarget 2and Active Imaging HD, and the new Simrad NSX ULTRAWIDE, the world’s first fully featured ultrawide marine display. RELiON Battery, Mastervolt and CZone products will also be on display.

JSW Powersports will exhibit the 2024 Sea-Doo models, Sea-Doo Switch and the dynamic underwater diving craft Seabob.

For thrill-seekers, Fliteboard will present the Flite Air and Flite Air Pro. Made of a solid riding platform with an inflatable deck, the new Flite Air and Flite Air Pro are easy to use, durable and lightweight.

Luxury lifestyle

An enticing selection of prestigious automotive brands will be on display, among them Bentley, Maserati, Lamborghini, BMW, Lotus, Aston Martin and McLaren. Plus, aviation company Jet Aviation will have its latest models on show.

Visitors can also upgrade their show experience with tickets to the all-new Lagoon Beach Club, an elevated precinct for guests aged over 18, offering a luxury beach-club vibe with all-day hospitality and live entertainment overlooking the resort’s lagoon pool and marina.

Remember, there are several ways to arrive at SCIBS – by sea, air, car or ride share. Private vessels can anchor in the Coomera River and Volunteer Marine Rescue Southport will transport guests to and from the event for a gold-coin donation. For a truly spectacular arrival, book a helicopter transfer through Gold Coast Helitours, which flies from Marina Mirage to Sanctuary Cove.

Summing up the entire gamut of experiences on offer at SCIBS 2024, Hasser says the show will both delight and entertain visitors with exhilarating moments and awe-inspiring displays.

“This year’s program of events promises something for everyone.

“Along with the incredible marine displays, the Marine Village precinct offers some of the Gold Coast’s best restaurants, cafes and bars, family-friendly street entertainment and that brilliant atmosphere SCIBS is renowned for.”

Ocean Media will be on HI Arm, the connector to the Superyacht Marina. We invite you to visit our stand, take a look at our latest issue and enjoy some Ocean hospitality.
