Princess Yachts will showcase two world premieres at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival as part of an eight-yacht lineup.

The UK’s largest luxury yacht manufacturer will introduce two S Class models for their first showing: the all-new Princess S80 and S65 sports yachts.

Plymouth-based Princess Yachts says the S Class series of sportbridge yachts is designed for a thrill-seeking audience that seeks speed and excitement alongside comfort and space.

Both new S Class models will be displayed at the Princess stand in Vieux Port during the Cannes Yachting Festival, which runs from 10 to 15 September 2024 on the French Riviera.

Princess S80

The S80 completes the three-strong Princess 80-foot lineup, following the X80 and Y80 models. It is also the flagship of the S Class sport yacht range.

Dynamic exterior lines provide a sleek profile, with spacious, open-plan layouts that integrate indoor and outdoor living areas.

The yacht shares the same hull and lower accommodation layout as its 80-foot siblings, while the exterior styling resembles the S72. However, the main deck offers significant differences.

The S80 has distinctive central cockpit access. This area has been designed to maximise outside space and on-water enjoyment, with a garage to the port side capable of holding a 4.35-metre tender.

The cockpit extends further along the main deck to provide an entertaining and relaxing space. Twin sunpads border the central access steps, while the cockpit seating area can be configured with twin coffee tables.

Moving forward, a teak dining table (with an optional extendable table) can seat six to eight and is positioned next to the galley bar.

Sliding doors and a large opening window above the galley bar connect the exterior with the interior to create a flow through the main deck, where a further breakfast bar unit provides a more casual dining arrangement.

The foredeck terrace, a feature from the Y80, offers two U-shaped seating areas plus a sunpad conversion.

The lower deck features four en-suite cabins. The full-beam master stateroom features soft organic furnishings complemented by accents and natural timber finishes.

The aft lazarette and two-berth crew cabin with separate bathroom are situated aft of the machinery space.

Various layout options including an additional crew mess area or optional third crew bunk or separate laundry centre. A watertight door from the electro-hydraulic bathing platform gives direct access to this area.

The 28.7 sqm sportbridge is equipped with MAN V12 1900 or 2,000 horsepower engines, which provide speeds up to 34 knots. It also has an optional 7,000-litre fuel tank, which enables an extended cruising range.

Both vector fin and gyro stabilisation options are available for greater control in challenging sea conditions.

“The concept of the Princess S80 focusses on an uncompromising main deck sociable living space close to the water with three distinct spaces, sunbathing, lounging and dining, usable simultaneously without conversions,” says Andy Lawrence, executive director of design and development at Princess Yachts.

“We have designed the S80 to sit proudly as the flagship of the S class range.”

Princess S65

Both new S Class models are designed by the in-house Princess Design Studio in collaboration with naval architects Olesinski and the Italian design house, Pininfarina.

The Princess S65 has a sleek, low-profile exterior but still accommodates a large sunroof that fills the saloon and lower helm with light and air when opened.

A large sunpad aft stretches over the garage, capable of housing a 3.3m tender. Forward of this is a U-shaped seating and dining area with a folding teak table. The cockpit countertop to port connects to the galley, which is separated by an upswinging door that connects the inside with the outside.

Teak stairs are positioned to port, leading to the sportbridge deck with panoramic views of the horizon.

To starboard is a large U-shaped seating area with storage below and a teak-double-fold dining table, which can be transformed to create an additional sun bed.

Moving inside, the saloon offers a sofa, coffee table, and sideboard unit. The dinette features an L-shaped sofa with a folding dining table, while aft, the open-plan galley connects to the saloon.

The Princess S65 is equipped with twin MAN V8 1200 or V12 1400 engines, which can achieve a maximum speed of up to 36 knots.
